Virginia Tech lost, yet again to a mediocre North Carolina team. I realize Bama is still a tough team and we have to play there, but seeing VT exposed and Bama performance the past few weeks has to make you wonder. I think if we play a solid game and the offense just plays decent, we can come out with a W.

VT didn't have to lose to UNC for me to believe that we can beat Bama.

It's still going to come down to how many points our offense can score. If our offense builds on what it did against Auburn, we have a good shot. If the old offense shows up, we're in trouble.

Substantially? Please elaborate.

this.

all VT losing did for us is gives us some ammo for when some gump acts like we don't have any wins. their VT win is nothing special at this point.

If we continue on this track, we can win out, and I think this team can play with anyone. I still think Texas is still the one to beat.

I would say bama's record is substantially more impressive than ours!

seriously, how? You did say record right? I didn't think 7-0 and 6-1 were that far apart, not to mention, Bama has no signature wins, VT continuing to lose does diminish accomplishments

When teams have NC aspirations, this is a pretty big difference. But as long as we win out, we're in very good shape.

BAMA is 8-0 at this point. Wins against Arkansas, VT, S. Carolina, & Tenn certainly rate higher than wins over Washington, Miss. St, & Georgia.

sorry, 8-0, forgot about one, their resume is better at this point, but again, the post said that the record is substantially better, we can only play who's in front of us, and we dismantled an Auburn team who you left off our resume, holding them to 193 yards of offense, I still like our chances

You couldn't get yourself to list Auburn. Bama has looked better, but substantially, not so much. Georgia and Auburn beat a couple of the teams you listed (and lost to a few). So back to the original point of the post, VT is the only real difference and that isn't looking as good as before.

but to discount their win against VT is ludacrous

Agree, plus when LSU beats bama you want to have bama's strength of schedule high as possible. Only helps out LSU in the BCS and a one loss SEC team may not make the BCS over a undefeated Texas, Cinci or Iowa! Just saying..

Their win over VT is no longer any better than our win over Auburn.

Does all this really matter?? If you're gonna win a national title, you're probably gonna barely get by a team or two that you should've pounded (LSU-Miss. St. & Alabama-USCe). It doesn't matter who each team has beat and by how much. All that matters is that you win the rest of your games. Comparing victories seems like a waste of time.

True..... I don't think anyone here is arguing that LSU is NOT the underdog, just that Bama seems to be, once again, a little overrated and very suseptible to losing, especially in a rival game like LSU.

Plus, if you will remember, Alabama has become infamous in recent years for epic disappointment... like last year and again back in 2005. These days, it seems to be a question of when they will collapse rather than will they collapse...

2005 wasn't really an epic disappointment when you look at the injuries we had. We were barely getting by some teams and it caught up to use when we played y'all.

As for last year, I wouldn't call going into the SEC Championship game undefeated an epic disappointment either. We lost a hard-fought game and just didn't really show up in the Sugar Bowl. This year, our depth is helping out a lot, where it was hurting us last year.

By most team standards, yes. But I know plenty of Alabama fans that expect a championship every year... I was at the Sugar Bowl with some Bama friends, and winning every game but the two that mattered in the end sure seemed like an epic fail in the words of some of them... they were PISSED.

Losing to ULM is epic failure. You could look it up in the dictionary and that score line will be there.
