I like Jersey's recommended drive over North Cascades to Grand Coulee Dam and back over to Leavenworth. That would be a long but amazing drive/trip.

I have family obligations Friday and can't get away. I guess I will just call and get on as a walk on with some locals or a group without a complete 4some.

I just got round trip tickets for 260 a person.
Leave Wednesday at 6pm, arrive at 11:30pm. Then we take the red-eye back Monday night, and get here tuesday morning at 9.

Thanks to both of you. We will probably do as you suggest.

dwr353 -

make sure you get out and touch or swim at Soap Lake. It's name is fitting. Near Grand Coulee Dam, you have to check out Banks Lake. Amazing lake (photo below). MUCH different over there than in Western Washington.

and here is Leavenworth (a little cliche)

Lake Chelan is also a great visit. Third deepest lake in nation (behind only Tahoe and Crater Lake). Water is VERY clear and deep...but very cold. You can take a float plan or boat ride to other end of the lake to Stehekin, accessed only by plane or boat - no road.

or go the Coast near La Push (other direction from above)

Have you ever done the ride up to Stehecin?

Was it worth it? There's not much to do there, I guess it's mostly just for the view along the way?

To me, yes. There are several "boat-in-only camping sites" along the way which is a really cool way to camp. For those who like to hike or see remote areas, yes. For the poster who likes to do long rides and see small towns (which originated the idea), probably yes.

For those who would rather stay and party in downtown Seattle, absolutely not.

Another great idea for you would be the San Juan Islands. Beautiful place.

Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor on San Juan Island or check out Orcas Island. Great road trip.

If we arrive on Wednesday (lunch) is Victoria worth the side trip?

Victoria is pretty cool. Definitely worth at least a day trip with Victoria Clipper or Kenmore Air. Pretty cool downtown area hotels and restaurants. Buchart (sp?) Gardens is pretty incredible, at least for the girls. You will need a passport though.

Depends on what you like. It's a pretty ride and Victoria itself is pretty picturesque. For me, there's not a lot to do there, but it will definitely put some time behind you in a pleasant fashion.

Nice work Jersey. I am not even going to the game and that was fun to read. Leave it up after the game in case I make my way to Seatlle anytime soon.

Victoria

If you are nerd, the main BC museum there is pretty sweet.

I would suggest the drive to vancouver (and straight through to Whistler) over Victoria though.

If you do go, drink tea with the old people at the Empress

Is a passport required to enter Canada if I want to visit Vancouver? I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but I'll ask anyway.

Friday Harbor is a great place to spend a day, take a bike or kayak trip.

We were there in June. The salmon run is from June-August, lots of tourism action around then.
