We are flying in on Wednesday and are going to the Mariners game. Any suggestions of where to eat around Safeco? What about sushi restaurants?

JT, do you listen to The Mens Room on KISW?
Posted on 9/1/09 at 4:26 pm to tigerfan34
Pyramid Brewery just outside the Safeco entrance, but get there early to get dinner because it get's very crowded.

Is there anything around safeco that isn't a chain that might be more local? Also with the sushi place on the guide, is it decent quality sushi? I ask b/c it's all you can eat. You never really know what you're going to get in that situation.
Thanks again

From the airport to the Westin. I would try riding the Light Rail Link. It's really new so I haven't had a chance to use it yet but it's supposed to be super convenient. Should drop you off a block from the Westin and cost you like $2.50 and take a 1/2 hour I would guess. Give it a shot.

Take it to Westlake, right around the corner from the Westin.
You want my opinion, forget Sushi next to Safeco. Get that sometime later in the week downtown or something. Hit up Sluggers before the game, it's one of the best sports bars in Seattle, right across the alley from Qwest Field (which is next door to Safeco). Get some bar food and big beers there, it's a good time.

Speaking of fun attractions this week, any of you Tigers getting tickets to the Seahawks game on Thursday night? Qwest is loud and we're playing our hated old division rival Raiders. Pre-season I know, but would still be a blast.

thanks, I think we may hit up sluggers for lunch before the game seeing as our flight lands at 12.
The dinenr/sushi idea was for post game, didn't have to be near safeco necessarily. We are staying at the Courtyard Marriott at Lake Union. Any suggestions for that area that aren't real pricey?

Nice, good plan. I would hit up Sushi Bay on Dexter which is south lake union/westlake area. Cheap and real good, small little joint. Probably a $10 cab ride tops from your hotel.

JT,
Will the light rail system or other public transportation be running and safe near midnight?
Thanks!

Pyramid's not a chain. it's the original brewhouse of the brand.

TigerWatch, after midnight you're fine on either the link light rail (from the airport), or the Metro bus service (throughout the city) assuming you are downtown-ish?
By and large, there only a couple isolated areas of Seattle metro I would avoid using public transit to get 'to and from' at late hours. I am guessing, chances are remote you are staying in those areas.

TigerFan 34, i know exactly where you are staying on Lake Union. If you are married to Sushi, and a good value at that, i would highly recommend Ototo Sushi on top of Queen Anne hill, near the corner of Queen Anne Ave N and N Boston Street....it's very good, and very 'neighborhood'.
A short cab from S. Lake union. I eat alot of Sushi in Seattle, and for the $, it's hard to beat. Good luck, and enjoy your trip.

What do they serve at the concession stands at Husky Stadium? Coke or Pepsi? Trying to figure out what liquor to bring into the game

some last minute input...
a couple of good irish pubs in downtown seattle - kell's and fado
if i were there on Thursday night - the place to gather for the boise state - oregon game on ESPN appears to be MVP's Sports Bar and Grill. 1629 Capitol Ave (Corner of 17th and Capitol) .... Seattle, WA 98109 (206) 404-7767
good luck and enjoy... if you let a little rain keep you indoors in seattle, you may well miss everything
It appears UDub's contract is pepsi...
