The young black population in and around campus has increased dramatically.

LSU has been aggressive with its recruitment of black students. It is primarily a budget issue, but it will soon blow up in their faces monetarily. Nevertheless, LSU is now 20% black. To give you an idea of how radical that is, when I was at LSU 20 years ago, there were folks on campus working towards someday getting this number to 5%. That was their pie-in-the-sky goal.

The overdevelopment of apartments around LSU has caused some of these complexes to be entirely occupied by non-LSU students.

So, with the increased young black population around LSU, that is going to attract young blacks from other areas who want to come to campus on gameday and “cut up” like you're supposed to at a tailgate. Their version of cutting up differs from what you're used to seeing.

Until you address these two factors, you will continue down this path. The worst part is that the 20% you've reached is causing the students you could always count on to go elsewhere. That 20% could go up as LSU sells its soul for every dollar it can find.

Scott Ballard, current BOS Chair, and the next President have monumental decisions ahead of them. If you're an alumnus, let your voice be heard. Kill the holistic entrance requirements. Tell your legislators to fund LSU adequately so they will stop this nonsense.

It’s a small percentage of that 13% that the rest of us in that number don’t want anything to do with either. Completely desensitized to violence and do not fear loss. Don’t want to be involved in nonsense but can’t walk away from it either. Stupid and embarrassing.
