Yes, he did.

"He said his clients weren't drinking at Shady's Bar the night of the brawl. He said they went to pick up a friend, and that's when the fight broke out."
That's a statement from his attorney, Bienvenu, on behalf of his client. So, yes -- Lowery denied being in the bar. He "went to pick up a friend". That is a lie.
quote:No they don't, at least not in that context.
A person has responsibility for a statement made by a person's attorney on their behalf.

I just don't know if I could do it. Really ... he maybe thought or was talked into believing that the charges would be dropped or changed BUT that's a HUGE chance.
Every application for a job will say "have you been convicted of a felony?". I would NOT want to have to mark yes.
This whole thing stink and it sucks.
That said, I love my TIGERS!!!

quote:Occam's razor. Think hard about this -- do you think it's more likely that a) Lowery said something that he thought made him look like the good guy, not suspecting he'd be caught in the lie or b) the attorney just started making things up without any input from Lowery. b is not impossible, although it would be a brave attorney to risk possible disbarment for such a brazen lie. a is far, far more likely.
so we have no idea what he told his attorney.
quote:So you equate saying "Lowery's credibility is suspect" with saying "the entire BRPD is part of a conspiracy." And you passed the bar exam?
Yet believing the entire BRPD is in on a conspiracy to railroad JJ isn't.

I was only talking about Lowery's credibility
I understand what your talking about, however you can't attack his credibility based upon his lawyers statements.
I think the guy sounds like a douche bag, however until you have read the police report/supplemental one wherein he gave a statements some days later, nobody knows what he told the cops.
He could of come in and gave it all up, but nobody knows.

The only evidence they have that it was football players was they were seen at the bar, the first people the police spoke to at the scence (whom them they did not bother to get names) said it was POSSIBLE LSU players were involved. Lowery shows back up at the scene over an hour later after he is probably called by someone telling him the police showed up and they were told LSU players could have been involved decided to run with that story. He said he recognized Jefferson and Johns. Then Victoria Long contacts the police officer (had to get his name from Lowery so they talked, got the story straight)because she knew for sure it was Jefferson and JOhns that attacked Lowery.
All of this and Lowery was a good samaritan to an unknown person he saw being pulled from a truck. The morning of the incident he did not know the person but several hours later he hires an attorney with the unknown person.

1) AL repeatedly harassing a female and acting in an aggressive manner
Yet, when confronted and asked to leave, he complied without any appearance of resistance. Not very psychotic behavior.

2) JJ looking calm and relaxed, and hugging a girl
I think most of us can go from chill to kill pretty quick.
However, I think your points are still valid, just pointing out that there are rebuttals to them.
thanks for at least saying my points are valid (unlike some, on both sides, who will change arguments/tactics in a blink, because they alaways. must. be. right.)
I agree, my points have equal counterpoints.
Which just goes to show that this whole mess is a cluster frick of massive proportions.
The videos do not prove anything (although they DO counter statements in public from representatives of both JJ the QB and AL).
The videos call into question quite a few things (JJ is wearing grey, the person most obviously kicking in one video is wearing black...AL is wearing plaid, it looks like the person on the ground in the second video is wearing white).
etc., etc., etc.
If I were on a jury, I'd have a very hard time convicting anyone based on AL's statements and the public evidence so far. I'd like to think that the BRPD has more evidence, but I have little faith in them (with years of experience and good cause).
I just don't see anything other than a mess, and withstanding a 'magic bullet' that we haven't heard about, a case that gets dismissed by the grand jury or acquitted at trial. If this case were just as messy and involved Joe Blows from Brusley/Denham/Walker, I doubt the BRPD would be taking DNA and making arrests and all.

quote:Well where would AL's attorney come up with that statement?
His attorney could of said he was there trying to sell bibles.
I guess he thought it'd be cool to release a different version of what AL told the investigators?
How long would he be representing you after a stunt like that?
Haters are reaching really far now.

quote:Not really, no. If you lack credibility because of other lies, the jury won't believe you even if you're teling the truth about something else. And you will make a bad witness and if the case depends on your testimony, you will lose.
Eh... perjury is really the only 'lying' worth being worried about.
That's worth worrying about, too. I mean, you kind of want to win your case. Perjury is the nuclear bomb.

because he doesn't want to be a snitch, simple as that. is it foolish, yeah probably, but i think that's probably what's going on if he isn't really the kicker. seems like sometimes people would rather test their luck than snitch on someone
If JJ wasn't the kicker, then somebody on the team (aside from the "real" kicker) is bound to know that. Why wouldn't they come forward if they know their QB is taking the fall for someone else?
I'd like to think that if this was indeed the case, SOMEBODY on this roster would have the character to step up and not let an innocent party take the fall.

I hate nobody.
2nd. Attorneys will release any statement that they believe will make their clients look better.
3rd. You don't know what he told the investigators! Unless you can show me a police report that has been released wherein AL said he was never in the bar, than the video means nothing to go against his credibiility. If he went and told the cops a few days later when he was official interviewed that he was never there, then yes he would be screwed. However nobody knows what he said to the cops.
