Not to mention, tiring him out, which, IMO, doesn't help him in the foul department.

limited offensive strategy does not suit most of our personnel.
What also makes it frustrating is that this style of BB is not what I thought CJJ preferred.

I have to bite my toungue (keyboard) many times when it comes to this issue. I don't like to "bash" a player on any of LSU's teams because I respect that they chose LSU and I want LSU to succeed. But it is obvious that there are some players (all sports, not just basketball) that are here only for as long as they have to be before they can make that jump to the professional level. When that attitude prevents a lack of desire to win championships for LSU, then it ticks me off. I could understand if a player has his eye on the pros and takes the field/court eveytime out trying to dominate and impress the professional scouts, because a dominant player will help LSU win. Unfortunately, we sometimes see a lack of interest from some of the players with an inflated sense of how good they actually are. In all sports at LSU, we've had players have average seasons and yet they feel that they are ready for the professional level. If you are such a big talent, then why don't you dominate every time you are on the field/court? When players come in and prove to be pro ready (Chris Jackson, Shaq, Kevin Gausman, Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry) I have no problem with them leaving early. But if they look very average at times, and the team struggles in large part because of your lack of effort or ability to stay in the game, then it turns me off as a fan of LSU.

I think EVERYONE could see that something wasn't quite right this season. Whether it was the locker room, coaching, attitudes, or more likely a combination of all of that mixed up together to produce a lot of head scratching, here's to hoping the team and staff are able to grow, learn, and improve for next season.

Completely agree, I hope this team shocks the world next yr

Anthony Randolph comes to mind

You mean the guy that averaged 15/8/2 in his 1 year with us? What the shite do you expect him to do? Just say "thanks, but no thanks" to the NBA, despite the fact that he was a lottery pick? GTFO.

nope. Randolph did ball out, but he wasn't a team player whatsoever. He was looking out for himself and that was all. I am not discounting he was a great player, but he wasn't a team player.

Reading this thread is very disturbing to me. Just a speculation on my part but CJJ may have told JOB III that he would be spotlighted if he returned his junior year. I know this is far fetched but what other reason would JOB return? To improve his draft stock, correct? Maybe CJJ saw this as a win-win and it just didn't pan out.
Also, the comment about the team not being present for the announcement may have been motivated by the very slight chance LSU was getting an invite. The chances were extremely remote they would get one.

I'm in line with lsu2006. He was a lottery pick, you can't pass that up. While he was on the floor he played well. That LSU team sucked, but it wasn't because of him.

You would still think though that a guy of his caliber would translate to more wins, especially when that team got healthier down the stretch, but that never really happened. Johnson still played in 25 games back then and we still only won like half of those.

Are some of the posters in this thread really complaining that our coach tried to run the offense through the best player on the team? Am I understanding this right? And there are some that feel the team will be better next year solely because JOB3 will no longer be on the team?

i don't think anyone is saying we'll be better bc of that, but bc of the continuity of the offense and adding depth in the 1 & 2 spots i think we could end up with a better record
will we be more talented.....probably not, JOB is alot to replace talent wise
bc of the continuity of the offense fitting JJ's overall scheme could we end up making the tourney and have a better record???........very possibly

I think losing JOB and going to a more guard-oriented team with slashers, more basket cuts and a generally faster-paced offense in the break and in the halfcourt are more what Jones wants to do long-term with the program. Whether that equates to more success next year is up for debate.

I do think the team has potential to be better next year.

JOB was spotlighted and should have been spotlighted he was and is the best player on this team but im simply saying he could have been spotlighted within the framework of the team.
Its common knowledge that if you pass out of a double team and create open looks and you capitalize on some of those that double team will come slower and a little more passive eventually the double would stop completely in which time JOB s one on one and he's going to completely dominant that guy. You got dre shooting 40% hickey in the 30's coleman, martin in the 30's not great but respectable so that could give JOB A stat line like 18/10/5ast instead of 1 ast 6 turnovers

A in the 30's shooting percentage for veteran players is respectable?
