They did the same thing to Ingram about his father being in prison. It's what they do. CBS casters are horrible.

Lundquist and daniels are the masters of the obvious, prognosticators of the past........its better to turn off the volume and let the game play out; win or lose. They are painful to listen to, unfortunately a sign of the times. the old sportscasters painted a picture, these guys frick it up so bad, it's almost unbearable.

It's crazy to hear how commentators gloss over ole Johnny Football bar fight and underage drinking/autograph for signature episode and lament and go on and on about Hill.

Given his size and strength and the nature of the punch, Hill's lucky he didn't kill or seriously maim the guy. People routinely go to jail for less.

Many SEC fans will rejoice on the day that fat SOB retires.
I actually like Danielson though. He is no nonsense and calls everything like he sees it - from an educated point of view.

Why do you have a problem w/ him calling it what it was?

I don't like Verne, but I do like when people call it like it is and not put a liberal spin on it.

that's what happened. did you want him to not say what Hill did?

Posted on 10/1/13 at 7:15 am to LagdonCG
He might have been reading from a script someone else wrote. In any event, the "sucker-punched" remark did seem designed to make Hill look like he not only provoked the incident, but that he did it in a cowardly way.

I guess my point is that the "Sucker Punch" line was an editorial and not just a brief statement of fact which would have been fine under the circumstance.
It is really old news but it has a salacious tone to it as does Metts story so they repeat it. What got me also was the ridiculing of Les for allowing the team to vote on it.

"sucker punching"
Is exactly what that was.
What do you expect? It was a GD bar fight.

I would contribute to a "Sucker Punch Verne" fund.
Sounds good to me, where do I send the check?

I remember this as well. I thought it was bullshite, as if Mark Ingram has any control over his fathers poor decisions.

Nobody had a problem with Ingrams dad being brought up and discussed at lengths most every game but somehow this is different? Also they stopped short of even mentioning what Hill was on probation for. All in all, they could have said alot more.
I did. They never would shut up about it. Some announcers seemed sympathetic to his father because he couldn't see his son play. Well, there was a reason for that. I felt bad for Ingram too because they were always bringing it up (then again, Ingram didn't shy away from talking about his dad either...tough situation though).
I think you talk about off-the-field issues right before the game starts or something. Once it starts, we want to hear about the action on the field. Also, if you're going to go into so much detail for some kids, don't just say another kid was suspended two games for "breaking team rules." If you're gonna be specific, be specific across the board.
Also, I want to add that if LSU had won the game, I think they could have accidentally said that Hill killed two people and no one would have really cared.

There's plenty of blame to go around. But it's time to grow up. Come to now! The past is way long gone. The fact is that there are no independent voices on TV anymore...Period! These guys are there for a reason...political correctness rules, dude! The big boys that run these networks have their agenda. Now, the really big question for all here is, do you? Think about it!
