A good example of this happening was the Utah-USC game a few weeks ago
actually looking at the trend, there was growing money on USC up until they moved the line from -3.5 to -6. That turned it back in the other direction pretty dramatically. It's obvious, though, they were making a big play on USC.

They set the line there bc they want more money on Lsu to cover.

Then why, with 66% of the public money on LSU to cover, has the line not moved more in an effort for Vegas to get "equal money bet on each team"?
actually looking at the trend posted on Vegas Insider (sportsbook.ag trend), the money was favoring Bama until Monday afternoon when it shifted heavy to LSU (from 31% to 95% in less than 2 hours), the line dropped and the money has steadily trickled in on Bama. I would guess they believe the line is about where they want it to get the balance they're looking for by game time.

The line opened with the Tigers as 7 point dogs and it has not moved much at all.
Vegas must know something....
No, they don't know more than anyone else looking at this game.
LSU has some "unproven" questions STILL surrounding Harris playing on the road against a "top four team".
LSU's def. secondary has given up quite a few big plays due to broken coverages, and they haven't "proven" they can fix this yet.
And in a close game, which most people believe this may be, it usually comes down to coaching and belief.
Miles/LSU is 0-4 against Saban/Bama, and has won only 2 of the last 8 as well.
So probably these are some of the things Vegas is looking at.
