There are other options besides coming in Friday and leaving Monday
Yes I understand that

booked a few months ago for less than 300 bucks by picking Saturday- Tuesday.
Sat. - Tues. is a great option if you can swing it. Would love to see the receipt on this. Highly doubt that $300 includes bags, seats, fee, taxes, etc. Highly doubt you're flying out of LA

Few years ago - business conference, nonLouisiana coworker wanted to go to the voted best seafood buffet in LV @ the Rio . Very large selection but HORRIBLE over cooked , dry , tough - for over $100 . Wouldn’t last a week in Louisiana !

Not from MSY you didn't.
Maybe with stops but I highly doubt anyone got Southwest tickets from msy non stop for $300 a few months ago.
I logged into Southwest on the morning the flights opened up in December. They went live around 6:30am. I got the non stop afternoon flight on Thursday going there and the non stop Monday morning coming home for $550. I have a companion pass this year so i got 2 tickets for the price of one.
I booked my room last October. Got 4 nights comped at the vdara. I have to pay resort fees but I knew to book hotel room and flights the second they opened up.

When was Vegas ever considered to be a cheap destination?
Vegas used to be real cheap if you planned it right. I remember being able to book a room for $50 a night and no resort fees. That changed 10-12 years ago.

Resort fees have gotten stupid over the last 8 years. And here recently they are less likely to comp the resort fees where 8-10 years ago a free room was a free room. Now a comped room still cost you $50 per night bc of the resort fee. You stay 4 nights and it’s $200 in resort fees plus tax.
Even flights have been a lot more expensive. When I first started going to Vegas 16 years ago you could take the round trip non stop with Southwest for $225 if you planned it right. Now even a non holiday weekend you’re still paying $400 plus for a round trip ticket.

Just drive. It's only 18 hours from Austin. You can check out the Grand Canyon

Booked several months ago flying out of Lafayette Fri-Wed $464 roundtrip. Only problem is flying to Atlanta makes it a long trip.

Back when they comped a lot of shite. I remember free flights, rooms and meals at one time.

I don’t know how often you fly or where from, but prices went up dramatically two years ago and have hovered there until about three months ago. I travel a couple of times a month and rarely have more than a couple of weeks notice. $750-$1,000 is about my average right now domestically and I fly Delta, main cabin. Well, I pay for main cabin anyway. There is starting to be more availability which should drive prices down a bit but higher prices are a fact of life in this economy.
