State seems to always have a bunch of huge guys in general. Not always good players,or starters at least, but huge. They'd be the last team in the league any other school would want to have a bench clearing brawl with.

That 1996 team of theres that won the SEC-T and made the Final Four had two huge guys down low. Not just tall, but big, wide, rugged as hell. One guy was Russell Walters, but the other guy's name escapes me,and he was a big star. Wasn't Dontae Jones.

I wouldn't say we contained him as he seemed to score at will when he got the ball. Johnson couldn't stop him. I would say that Stansbury contained him by keeping him on the bench most of the second half. I couldn't understand them keeping him on the bench during our big 2nd half run and then putting him back in the game with only a couple of minutes left.

thanks,that was driving me crazy.

That guy was a hoss. I remember going to the SEC-T semifinals at the Superdome and being down by the entrance where the teams came through. Those jokers were huge.

Yeah they have had some solid players thru the past decade or so. I tell ya Stansbury is one of the top flight coaches of our league. He always gets a lot from pretty average guys and had a streak of guys bolting for the league before getting on campus (D.Stevenson, J. Bender and a couple more I think). Somehow he's always very competitive and seems to get to NCAA's more often than not.

I remember that 7 footer goon named Campbell. He played with Lawrence Roberts. If only Campell was good that could have been scary. Same with Wesley Morgan who was 7'2.

Retard, you ever heard of a nickname? My friends and I have always called TT "Tyrone"

Most of us - if not all of us - don't hang with you and your lil buddies. We are supposed to assume a nickname? Fail on the "nickname".

You stated that State's big men dominated us. They never dominated us. We dominated them.

No they didn't. No we didn't.

So check yourself son.

I'm likely older than you and I am sure you wouldn't speak to me like that in person.

ETA: funny you mention 02-05 but leave that out of your stats.

Nice try. Scoreboard is all that matters. I don't have "stats" laying around. The stat that matters is State dominated LSU in 2002-'04. Our big men might have outscored theirs...whatever...point is, we went 2-6 in that stretch.

State always killed us because of their inside/outside presence. Even with Lloreda, Bass, Davis, and the like, we could not stop them

And please read more carefully next time. You missed the boat from the beginning. THEM = STATE

Contrarily, CJ wasn't able to do much because of Varando, but luckily we didn't need that.

Varnado spent most of the evening trying(unsuccessfully) to contain TMitch. CJ actually was guarded mostly by other guys and was just out of sync(again) offensively. He boarded well and hustled on D and that's what matters most to TJ.

I like how you edited your post add "inside/outside" presence. You said their inside presence dominated us.

You're wrong when you said their inside presence killed us. in 2002 we were not good so it's not saying much. We had a combined 8 sec wins from 01 to the end of the 02/03 season.

State beat us with more than just a big.

HA! Did not! That was not edited at all. That was typed way before you came along! FAIL!

I didn't even say their big men beat ours...I said their inside/outside presence...and I did NOT edit.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If we had this guy, we'd be a top 10 team with what we have now.

It always seems that State has a guy in this mold. Thankfully, State had no guard play to go with him tonight. In those years of '02-'05, State always killed us because of their inside/outside presence. Even with Lloreda, Bass, Davis, and the like, we could not stop them. Tonight, we contained Varnado - I suppose - and State had no other answers...and we did it with the least talented front court that LSU has had in years. No knock on CJ, Tas, and QT...but they ain't an NBA dream team, but props to them for stopping that beast tonight. Contrarily, CJ wasn't able to do much because of Varando, but luckily we didn't need that.

Anyway, that was one of the most threatening big men we shall see this year...in the west anyway.

Ok man LOOK, so I can spell it out for you. The way that looks to me is though you were talking about we could not stop their BIG MEN. I feel we definitely stopped their big men. No one could hang with Bass and Jaime in the SEC. That was my argument.

They had 16 SEC wins plus 5 SEC tourney wins from 2001 to 2003.
