being so close to the river

Why would this be a problem? There are golf courses all over the world in every kind of climate next to lakes, rivers, swamps, oceans that have great turf.

No reason we can't have great turf from start to finish in TS. Just need to get the Admin committed to it.

Once again, the results tabbed FieldTurf as the runaway leader among all artificial turf brands.

that's not the question. The article mentions field turf is the highest ranked artificial surface. I'm sure it its, its much better than old Astro turf. How does it compare to grass in general. Perhaps one grass field, like LSU's can be better cared for.

Some idiots say that field turf is too hot. BS! Hell, it is hotter in Austin than Baton Rouge in September.

it hasn't been decent since the new upper deck was added. At this point it obvious LSU can't get the field right and w/ the athletes LSU has combined w/ poor grass, it's missing out not having a great surface like Field Turf

Field turf is for domed stadiums, places that get too cold to graw grass, and lame athletic traditions.

I played on old-school Astro turf, grass, and the new field turf....

Field turf blows the other two away...Its better in every way..plain and simple...

Besides our type of team would play better on it...

This frames the issue only in terms of two options: 1) bad grass (like present in TS) or 2) field turf. There's a third (and viable) option - great natural turf.

So - would you rather have field turf or great natural grass in TS? For me this is a no brainer - great natural grass.

Well, if I'm gonna get pwn3d, it might as well be at the hands of a fellow West Monrovian.

Although, in my defense, I really wanted to play on that field--no matter with whom--because of its history. Jim Thorpe played a game once, and both Ted and John Kennedy played for the Crimson in their days if I'm not mistaken. It's also the stadium responsible for the advent of the forward pass, and it was the first large reinforced concrete structure in the world.

I wanted to visit Harvard Stadium more than I wanted to see Fenway.

this as an excuse for us to play on the dirt and sand field we have now.

Your sand comment is the thing that I think is one of the problems. It's used to help the drainage. But I've noticed some closeups on tv, where sand is flying as the player cuts. Too much sand allows for the cleats to churn it up more easily.
