Why's that?

Student section was packed. Everyone was crammed in the lower corner. My row was significantly over crowded.

Have you not learned anything from this thread?

Yeah because the student section is general admission and everyone else has an assigned seat.

Then why was there a gaping hole to the right of the scoreboard?

Exactly. This leads to overcrowding in better sections. If everyone would have had an assigned seat for this game, that section wouldn't have looked empty.

Is there a pic somewhere of this in the thread? I came in late...

I looked up into the student section multiple times, but it looked full to me.

What do you not get about the SS being like that in the history of forever? UF '97 you couldn't even find the staircase.

How long has the section under the scoreboard been part of the SS?

Students back then also literally LIVED in TS. And I doubt they had as many student tickets as we now have.

Not in the 90s.

Those seats are new in location only. The SS use to go a good bit down the West sideline and end pretty much right in the middle I'd the scoreboard.

I wasn't talking about the 90s. You referenced 97 and I didn't acknowledge that. I was responding to another poster.

I've been lurking the boards for a long time but I just need to jump in on this topic.

Currently a senior at LSU and purchased season tickets when I can afford the time and money to the games. This year I was fortunate to do so and haven't missed a game. Stayed to the end of every game and sang the alma mater as well.

Personally, I was never certain the NEZ endzone was SS. Usually when my group tries to find seats, we take the NWZ where the shade sets in faster.

I agree, the NEZ was empty but the SS, especially in the NWZ zone was packed. Not to bash the supporters of TAF that pay more out of their pockets but I noticed that the entire Eastern side was pretty sparse by mid 3Q.

Students are trying to avoid standing in too much sun for too long, doesn't seem like other fans disagree with that mindset.

You people amaze me and I can't believe this has taken up 8 pages. I can't believe this hasn't been posted before. That section is not part of the student section. It's reserved for high school football coaches. Midway thru the first they take a look at how full that section is and then allow others to sit there. So everyone shut the hell up about why its empty because you are all wrong. Good God.

want to sit in the middle of it all in the northwest corner so they'll put 40 in a row made for 30.

This is exactly what it is. The students are all in the lower section because their tickets are not for a specific seat. They stand in the aisles even. Can you blame them for wanting to be close to the action? LSU can't sell more tickets than there are seats though so the students passion makes it look our attendance is piss poor even though it is technically full.
