I believe this season will tell us everything we need to know about O moving forward. He probably won’t be fired after this season but we will have a better idea of the length h
It will tell us a lot but his success or failure in recruiting will tell us more. He can survive a mediocre season if he has a top 5 class in recruiting. He has to keep Sopsher , Stingley et al home; a premier running back and, of course, a true blue chip quarterback.
If he loses on the recruiting trail then his tenure will be shortened. That's his supposed forte.
He took a huge risk by promoting Ensminger who, regardless of the Rant minions opinions, knows offense. Not having a bonafide, premier back in the last two classes also hurt.

No, don’t trouble yourself.
Look- you can’t always go by what a coach HAS done before he got here. Curley Hellman was a “proven winner” at Southern Mississippi and was hailed as a “slam dunk hire” when he arrived in 1991. His replacement was a rising star- and did have success for a few years here before he fell out of favor. Thus far, the only thing O is guilty of is going 15-6.
Our fan base has the same issue as every other program that’s tasted the highest level of success: We want more. Every year. That’s so hard to do- and it’s amplified knowing the guy who got that ball rolling is now doing it for the bully two states over. I wish instant success could be a sure thing- but it’s not.
I’m willing to give Orgeron some time to rebuild what we’ve lost. It’s his program, now. We must be willing to give him that chance.
Good luck getting the next guy if he has under 2 years to make it all happen.

Because he’s leading our program with no credentials. Because he clearly doesn’t have the ability to do so. Because he’s going against proven winners. Because his past can be used against him in recruiting.

You just a dick up your arse about O.
While I think O was a short sighted choice, there were not proven options available. Fleck, Fuentes, Fedora, etc were not slam dunks.
Yes, O failed at Ole Miss. There have been others folks who have failed and been given another chance, not to mention coaches who had piss poor records and kept their jobs but eventually built winners.
Remember Swinney had no credentials, had a 4-3 record as interim at Clemson, then went 9-5 and then, oh no, went 6-7.
Muschamp failed at UF but was given a second chance.

That's gracious of you, but LSU was no rebuild. According to O. And the very issues we had before have yet to be fixed.. or even close to being fixed.. and that's the quarterback position. Recruiting is also down like it has never been before. We are now missing out on top rbs and cbs.. and he didn't even bring in a QB. Seems like we are taking a step back. If O actually brought something to the table it would be understandable to give him time.. He literally brings nothing to the table. He promotes a guy from the previous administration to fix the offense and qb woes. This is very much a telling season. If things go south there is literally no reason to keep him around. If he has LSU ranked outside the top 10 in recruiting two straight years, can't get the QB issue fixed, keeps missing out on QBs, etc.. what is even the point?
I still feel like we will get Burrow and that may actually buy O time. I'm not complaining about it though. I want LSU to succeed and I feel he would make us much better.. but if we don't and we have 7 win season.. O needs to go. It's just wasting time.

“ we’re not slam dunks”
There are very few coaches around who I would consider to be slam dunks. There are many coaches around who were deserving of a looksee before we jumped to the conclusion that the best coach available was Coach O .
Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more bizarre coaching search and hire than what went on at LSU.
All this second chance stuff is great, but that doesn’t mean coach O is deserving of a second chance at a football school like LSU. Hell, the man couldn’t even get interviews for jobs that had come open in the last 10 years, after the stink bombs laid in some of our games last season, I think we are beginning to see why.

he didn’t reach florida’s standards, but a .571 winning percentage, division title, Sugar Bowl appearance, and a top 10 finish would be considered a success at all but about 15 schools in the entire country.
