I think We’ll have to grab a couple of JUCOs to bridge the gap between now and when the 2020 DL are ready to step up.

We’ll see how all those DEs contribute this year.

We don't need JUCO's in 2020. The D line situation is overstated.

are you just writing off 2020 as a minor rebuild year?

I know 2019 feels like the payoff year. We’re loaded, we returned a lot of talent that’s probably gone in 2020.

And we are looking good at DL in the 2020 class, but I dont See any guys who are young to be dominating the DL in 2020 on the roster now.

Absolutely. You think it's an 8-5 year?

I mean. It could be, but I’m hoping it’s not.

This class it pretty fricking good to not be able to contribute to something better than an 8-5 class.

But the DL worries me, and we’ll lost at least half our secondary. And 2-3 LBs. Likely.

But we’ve recruited LB and DB pretty well.

Let’s putnit this way, if 2020 is an 8-5,9-4 year 2019 better by a CFP year.

I think LSU is a school positioned to be a perennial top 10-high teen school.

Lots of local talent. Close to a Texas and other states to fill gaps. National brand.

I think ole Miss, Arkansas, Miss State and even Auburn have slid back to the pack a bit. I feel Like we’re back at a point where we should only be competing with Florida and Alabama yearly.

With the talent on the team in 2020, the floor should be 3 losses.

So the 3-4 TF from this past year, shelving, ika, Evans, plus the Texas transfer, all scrubs I guess

Shelvin is a redshirt freshman. Came in 2 classes ago.

And no they aren't scrubs. Also don't think they are good enough to give us one of the better DL's in the conference.

2019 is the year to push all the chips to the center of the table. ‘20 may be a soft rebuild in some spots.

Not a lot of dominant defense build around 3 star DLs.

3 stars you’re hoping for contributors in 3 years and lucky with a real star player.

We’re lacking stars.

Soft rebuild it putting it lightly.

On defense LSU loses
2-3 DL
3-4 LB
2-4 DB

Doesn't matter how good your depth is. Replacing 7 starters will be tough.

No way. Coach O has preached sustained success. Our expectations for 2019 extend beyond.

I thought 2018 was still part of the rebuild? Should we expect four years of rebuild for every one potentially successful season?

Miles couldn't recruit QBs while he was here and it looks like O isn't going to be able to recruit dlineman.

How the hell this is an area LSU is struggling in recruiting on an elite defense I'll never understand. If you guys look at the rest of the SEC they've been making o/dline priorities in recruiting while LSU has progressively regressed on the dline. Got 1-2 quality guys in last class but they're not elite bluechip quality. And this is the big gap with LSU/Bama right now. Teams hanging with them usually have good trenches to do so.

What's funny about all this is O mentioned it the second he took over as HC and so far hasn't done a good job recruiting both sides. The oline last year was the weakest link on the entire team and dline was pretty mediocre. Chaisson shouldn't be the only excuse used as to why they couldn't pressure outside blitzes. I'm wondering if guys just don't think Aranda's scheme is attractive to play in. In our old 4-3 schemes we'd load up on dline.

There is no doubt O is good at filling holes.

Idk like to see him be a bit more proactive in anticipating holes and keeping them from happening.

We took 5 CBS this year because we took 2 the last 2 years.

It’s good we took 5 but it CB depth was an issue the last 2 games.

Do you understand what a "soft" rebuild means?

Leave it to our former DL coach turned head coach to mishandle our DL depth so badly

There has to be more to the story because he had an opportunity to get some serious playing time and now this. Something doesn't seem right and we may never know the truth. Wish him well!

In this context? I have no idea. Do tell.
