Duck here. So I do not know this answer. And with no other top program In LA I was curious, who is LSU's biggest rival?

The reason I ask is because I spent a whole year last year hanging out with OleMyth fans because of my man Masoli transferring there(please lets not get into Masoli talk shall we). And well, I had not known them well at all until then. But one thing I found out very early on is that they hate the living Piss out of LSU. In theory I think if they did not win one game except to beat LSU I think they would be content almost. UM fans literally hate LSU with a passion. All their school chants have "go to hell LSU in them" and such. I of course, don't really get it though. Now Miss St. may see them as their rival, but honestly, from my interaction with them, they almost could care less about them and they reserve all their hate to LSU. One time a guy told me it had to do with something about your states and how certain signs went up between you both or something, cant remember. Anyways, and many other such fans told me LSU fans loath them. For instance one story was told to me how a couple from Mississippi moved to LA and were greeted by a nice neighbor couple there for several days, with them all becoming close. But one day it was asked of by those LA people to the UM couple where they went to school. And they replied, they both went to Ole Miss and married there. And after that, the LA couple just walked away and never again spoke to that UM couple.

Anyways, that story always has stuck in my head and how much They detest LSU(for what ever reasons). But then recently I have been seeing postings by T.A&M folks and from the talk it looks like they are a rival of yours maybe too. And then well, from other past rememberings it looked like Arky was your biggest rival. And then there is also Bama who I can easily tell many LSU fans maybe see it that way.

So in conclusion, it has me confused. So I thought I would ask. Who is LSU's biggest rival in your eyes? And if I get many answers, could you please rank them for me.

I am just trying to understand LSU culture.

Thank You.

And if you desire to know, which most here probably do not, in the PAC our rival set ups are a little odd. Almost every team only has 1 rival and that is their area or in state rival except for 3 programs- that have more then one: UO, UW, USC. UO's biggest rival by far is UW. Then our lessor rival is OSU. It's dropped off some in the years with UW because we have beat UW around 8 straight times in a row now by 20 or more points. Only the younger college kids might consider OSU our biggest rival. And with UW it is UO of course. And their lessor one is in state with WSU. In each it is classic big brother vs little brother were as little brother only has 1 rival- Big brother. But for USC their biggest is ND. And their lessor one(but more heated) is UCLA. As said, all the rest only have a minor in state one. And by far the most hated, heated rivalry(much near what you see with UA/AU) is that UO/UW one. However, recently the biggest rival game has been the civil war game UO/OSU. It is probably the most know rival game in modern times out west. So if there is any confusion I am making a different between the most rival hated fan bases in the PAC(UO-UW) and the actual biggest rival game (The Cival War). Not that you care about any of this, but perhaps you all have some similar setups maybe.

Ole Miss is lucky that State even considers them a rival these days. They have the worst athletic department in the SEC.

It changes TBH. We haven't had a "traditional rival" ever since Tulane fell off the face of the football world.

Right now, I would say it is either Alabama or Auburn. Auburn because it has usually determined the West one way or another for almost a decade now and most of the games have been VERY CLOSE, and Alabama because of memories of being under the thumb of the Bear and now Nick Saban coaching there.

ETA: Ole Miss is probably the school we maintain the most ingrained hatred for though.

They just aren't relevant enough compared to the national title level games against Bama and UF.

We don't exactly have that 'rival' that everyone in the country knows about.

And there aren't exactly any schools in the SEC (outside of Ole Miss) that would put us at the top of their list of rivals.

Tough to pick out of Tulane (traditional, really no current gravitas to it), Ole Miss or Bama.

It's tough to have a "biggest" rival when it isn't reciprocal. Ole Miss will always have Miss State and Bama will always have Auburn. On a similar note, historically Bama has not considered us as much of a threat as we have hated them.

We have "mid" level rivalries with aTm, Arkansas, Auburn and Florida, though none of them generate the emotion of the big three I mentioned above - the Tulane one is really for fans ~45 or older.

If pressed for a single answer, I would say Ole Miss, though for me, personally, it is always and forever Bama.

Ok. But let me reword this. I am not talking about biggest games or teams you get up for per say. Such a thing changes with the seasons and years and maybe lately it has been Arky or Bama or such. I am meaning Rival in the terms of is there a team that LSU fans detest, that they hate on? Is there one team that you just cannot stand losing to even if they were already having a bad year? For instance. With Bama And Au. Even if Au has a bad year and their Iron Bowl game may not decide anything (in years past)those two fan bases detest each other. That will always be their biggest rival.

In the PAC everybody wants to badly beat USC. But we do not see them as a rival as there is no bad blood or such. And now, it is probably us that everyone wants to beat. But there is not much bad history with us and anybody elts besides our two rivals. UW and UO have long hated each other. I have read many articles by the press who have said of all the rivalries out there between two fan bases hating each other, ours is probably #3 after UA/AU, and Michigan/tOSU. And with the latter and us we each hate each others states, compete with each others state for much. And with our lessor brother in house rivalry it is I think the 3rd or 4th longest rivalry in the country. The Civil War game got coined because loyalties would split up families and both schools are super close to each other. And I have read of major fights braking out, beer bottles being smashed ect. going as far back as the early 1900's. These are the things I am talking about. Not big teams or games you get up for necessarily per say. But fan bases that you just plain hate with a passion and or have a rich history with as such. I was just curious what your views are and also if you hate Ole Miss as much as they loath the piss out of LSU(team, fans, state).

For me, it's Auburn and Alabama. I always root for the SEC in bowl season but I rooted against Bama when they played Utah and then Texas and I was indifferent in the Auburn/Oregon game. I really had a hard time pulling for Auburn in that game.

I hate Auburn AND Alabama with a passion. I don't really give a shite about Ole Miss one way or the other but traditionally they would get the nod. I have a friend who is a huge LSU fan who went to school for a bit at Southern Miss and she cites that experience as making her detest Ole Miss.

But for the future I see Alabama as the big game LSU fans circle on the calendar every year, especially as long as Saban is there.

It's between Alabama and Auburn. The others aren't quite as heated as those. Ole Miss, And Arky arent successful enough for us to embrace a rivalry. But if u ask them it's a big rivalry. I definitely think Florida is way up there too but I don't know if it's mutual that we both rank eachother as tops as far as rivalries. So I'd say Alabama, Auburn, and Florida in that order

The LSU/Florida rivalry will never be tops because of the conference alignment. It is always one of my favorite games of the year though.

LSU doesn't have a rival. A true rival needs to believe you are a rival as well. Ole Miss isn't consider a rival for anyone under the age of 50. Bama and Auburn don't consider us a rival. Arky just isn't it, and that leaves FL or Miss State. Neither qualify. FL has TN and Miss State is irrelevant and has Ole Miss.

And it's ok that we don't have a rival by the way. It's not a prerequisite to being a successful program.

I would say Ole Miss just for the simple fact that their fans are biggest fricking pricks on the face of the earth.

Btw I would hate to play in the PAC 12... Washington, Wash State, and Oregon State are big rivals. Those teams suck y'all should win every year with no excuses.

I will just shut up and read all your posts. I love seeing the different views and reactions coming out. I like how some of you are braking it all down and maybe for some it is different for each person.

And maybe someone could explain the Tulane thing too. I mean, you don't even play them every year. I just had assumed it was Arky because that is who you play at the end of the season and in my Conference you play your rival at the end of the season(usually). Anyways, I will stop asking questions for a while and just sit back and read your posts... I just am trying to figure this out.

BTW...the A&M rivalry is fairly one sided.

They hate our guts.

We don't care.

Its rather interesting how they still go on about shite from over a decade ago.
