hmmm, I wonder what most LSU fans expected in july/aug for us this year?
Pretty sure the majority had us at 9 wins, 10 wins.
I know its how we lost bla bla fricking bla.

Bottom Line - if Saban is not in the SEC, it is not that big of a deal.
However, he moved in next door and is your hated neighber f-cking your wife in front of you every day.

quote:*raises hand* I did...BUT that was preseason and as I saw it play out we definitely could've won two more. Could've also lost two more, too. I happen to be okay with our season but I'm also concerned with some thing too.

Certianly not a shortage on this board of the above.
Ask yourself this question, I wonder how people over at USC feel today?
How about UGA or Auburn?
Oklahoma?
Do any of those shcools feel like they take second fiddle to LSU in recruits? or coaches? or Championships?
Its tough when you lose players. Not only players but more importantly IMPACT players..
EXample
USC defense.. and QB
Moreno and Stafford
how about Sam Bradford?
Take notice who texas and Fla have leading their offense as well as other playmakers on both sides of the ball.
The penis envy/jelaosousy of Nick Saban by some of you is laughable., actually its embarrassing.
LSU is not in decline, we arent gonna become Miami.
We were short/young/inexp this yr and last yr on quality people who make or break a season and that's a fact.
We imporoved from last yrs let down and IMP will improve in 2010 from this season.
9-3 is what we are and have a chance to beat a good big 10 team for 10 wins.
Obv being in Atlanta is the goal every year and this yr we came up short.
You people that say with this staff we will never go back need to a grip on reality stop living in whoville and join the rest of the logical LSU fan base.
Well said there sonnyboy. Anyone who comes back with "NO NO NONONO, its the coaching" is brain dead.

I agree, but I have faith in people that get paid alot of money to fix it.
You folks dont seem to understand that it is easier to fix things than it is to start over.. at least at that's where we are now.

Last Year too
And he is recruiting like a MF over the last 3 years. Will bring in more talent than LSU again this year

coming from the mayor of 'whoville'. talent and experience win...we didn't have one or the other at key positions.

dude you really need to get off of the hating jj. He had no running game, no pass protection and horrible play calling. All that and he put up numbers almost identical to flynn and mcelroy. Just stop already. Its crowton' job to put players in a position to succeed. Anyone with minimal football knowledge( you tigerlee) could see that jj had trouble keeping his eyes down the field when the pocket broke down. Why not roll him out some? Same as lee last year. We had one of the most dominate running games in the country but crowton kept putting the ball in lee's hands. Its crowton's job to coach those bad habits out of jj and not to put jj in a position to fail. Crowton going away from what works ruined lee in my eyes.

No one here is stating they should be chancellor...but if you ever spend anytime watching the games instead of reading the score results on espn, then you'd know what a quality coach does during a game in tight spots and what it looks like when one fricks up. Most can identify a good coach and an inferior coach. When one could argue that when Miles steps on the field before kickoff, it's like the other team already has 3 point lead due to his inferior game management. I don't care to start a season already realistically looking at 2nd or 3rd. "This is the best O-line i've had since being at LSU"....yeah, Miles has it all covered, so no need to worry.

Hey Dude!
WE do not Have Saban as our coach any more, get over it. We are getting talent in here just as they are. No one knows who is getting the better talent until they have played several years. look at the smaller schools that are contending for the NC this year they have players that were ranked below all three teams that are ranked above them and below so thinking you have gotten the best players before they play a game you are truly smoking the grass. So get off the grass and start looking at reallity and hope that we have, just like everyone else, the best players that we can get year in and year out. It goes in cycles up this year down the next. How come USC lost? How come Georgia lost? How come Okla. lost? Not everyone can win every year I don't care who they are, there is only one BCS trophey. We have two over the last 6 years and it was 50 years before that when we last won one. look at the record of all the NC's since it's inception and you will see something that surprised me. Yale and Harvard won more than anybody else when it all began. But, when was the last time those two schools won a NC they haven't because they do not belong in the same class or level anymore. So get over it and star saying we will get them next year just like everyone else will except one either Texas or Bama.

Hey dude!!!! USC losing is their own problem...and Princeton wasn't some powerhouse...it was Harvard and Yale, that eventually decided to not focus on football and focus on academic championships a long time ago as the landscape of college football continued to change. You have to realize it's not that Saban isn't our coach, it's that he's better than Miles and he's in our division. If we don't beat Saban, we will have to have a miracle every year to get to Atlanta. If you are ok with 8-4, 9-3, then go be an Ole Miss fan.

i stopped reading this thread because its the same mindless drivel over and over.
dude, i agree with you.
these people are all too quick to point out the games we coulda/shoulda lost, yet fail to say the same about bama. South Carolina, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU ALL had bama on the ropes and couldnt close the deal. Funny how bama could easily have had multiple loses, but somehow LSU fans dont recognize THAT.
LSU is not done. we arent on the decline. we arent destined for mediocrity. Every year is different and the SEC is far too loaded for ONE team to dominate it for any length of time.
all you Chicken Littles need to go back inside and dont come out until the sky has officialy fallen.

I love the kool-aid drinking, purple-colored glasses type of fan. No matter what happens, everything will work out in the end type of fan. The Dandy Don. The ones who will be predicting 10-2 next year. That's fine. I understand it's healthy and it feels good to be positive.
But the type of fan above who "wants to be positive" but pretends like there are some kinds of facts to back it up and tries to shout down people who come armed with the facts is just ridiculous. And they really hurt the program.
LSU was inexperienced this year.
DId you even watch the Arkansas game????
You know, when they introduced the seniors on the team.
This team will lose about six senior on each side of the ball, not including key backups like KW and Holliday.
What you mean to say is that we very little depth or experience on the OL or DL. That's not to change because Miles has recruited to get a high ranking every year and has not really addressed team needs and has allowed other players to fall through the cracks.
It's not ridiculous for people to still about Nick Saban. It's easy to see why they do. The difference between Saban and Miles IS THE DIFFERENCE between LSU wining championships and being an afterthought. So let this be last time an uninformed poster lectures everyone else on talking about Saban, because her thinks we should all be satisfied with Miles' mismanagement.
Thank goodness some know the difference between a 9-3 team and one that teetered on the brink of 6-6.

So what is your solution? Let me guess. Fire Miles and start all over. Who are you going to get that is 1) better than Saban, 2) ok with the fans demanding an SEC title every other year because they perceive we have some kind of massive talent advantage that just isn't so, 3)can recruit as well as Miles the past few years?
Who would you get? I will stay with the guys who have proven they can recruit, most importantly, with the other SEC powers.
And if you thought Alabama has no players then you are an idiot. I saw lots of kids out there last night that were Shula recruits kicking the crap out of Florida. Bama is good, always has been, and will always be good so long as they recruit well. And they will.

Lost an All American caliber QB and 9 starters on D.
Their coach rebuilt their program for pure mediocrity and has won 7 conference championships.
They were in a BCS bowl last year.

How about UGA or Auburn?
Richt was either going to have to get rid of Martinez or take his pink slip.
Chizik was just hired and he has exceeded some expectations

Oklahoma?
Lost an All American QB, OT, OG, and TE since last year. Were in the NCG last year. Coach rebuilt the program from shite and has taken them to 4 NCGs.

What huge impact player did we lose like that?
Tyson Jackson..... and I'm waiting.
If you are trying to compare losing D Byrd and Helms to losing Heisman Winners and first round draft picks then you are being absurd.

This has nothing to do with Nick. It has to do with Miles v. His Possible replacement.

Good and Big 10 don't go together this year.

If there was a better candidate, then yes i think we should unless the program is happy with just being profitable and average seasons.

Newsflash, Petrino, Saban, Meyer, Kiffin, Nutt(staying in league), Chizik, didn't all show up here because they like playing with play-doh...this conference is full of talent and pays the cash so yes, coaches are waiting to come here in spite of the pressures.

What does this mean? i never said bama didn't have players

Lastly , what good is a good recruiter that can't coach players or manage a game clock? Why won't JJ step up in the pocket??? Here's a hint...coaching-why did we lose to Ole Miss???? Coaching....

We have 10 SEC titles in bout 80 yrs of SEC football, 6 west titles in like 20 yrs we have had a west, and 3 national titles in 100+ yrs, but now coming in 3rd in the SEC is suddenly inexcusable.

Would I have liked to win the SEC this yr...hell yeah, but I'm not stomp my feet, scream like a 2 yr old, and attack my school/team/players/coach cause what they did this year was only good enough get LSU showcased on ABC on New Year Day(maybe) playing Penn St.(maybe).
Each to our own, but I'm sure glad I can still enjoy LSU success.

I think we should just stop keeping scores in games. That way no expectations. Sunshine and rainbows. Wheeeeeee!
