This is Jefferson's only means of retribution/justice.
If 16 months from now he's found not guilty, there is not a single thing he could do right the situation.
He can't recover against the school
He can't recover against the BPRD (unless he could prove maliciousness)
He can't recover against the accusers.
Basically, the message is - you've been accused which means you have to forfeit your senior year regardless of whether you're guilty or not.

The Athletic Department has no budget issues.
LSU does. There is no way they let a student go on national TV wearing school colors...where every time they mention LSU they mentions the word "felony"...zero chance.

And what percentage of revenue do you think would be lost by Jefferson being allowed to play?
I have no idea, but public perception when you are fight budget battles with the State legislature is not something you wnt to compromise.

At the end of the day, the administration at LSU cares about public perception of the University.
Sorry, that's a fact.

how would reinstating JJ effect the budget?

And it doesn't bother you that this lawyer and JJ are gearing up to try and take down LSU and miles?

Yeah, because the state operating budget is dictated by ESPN....

Most under talked about side of this entire issue. JJ has graduated and is on in school taking classes to be able to play football. The educators might just cut ties with him all together from a school enrollment stand point, they have done their service to him by giving him an education, the bad press is not worth it to the world of academia

wow, talk about a myopic view......
Think about it. The state legislature, not all of which is pro-LSU, decides on the budget.
The University receiving negative public attention from playing a potential felon on national TV in front of millions of Americans....
Yeah, you're right. It wouldn't factor into people's decisions at all. Nevermind the effect on potential donations to the University from corporate outlets, private donors, out of state students, etc....
better make sure JJ can play in a football game isntead

While I agree that they probably won't lift the suspension, I can almost guarantee that if Jefferson was allowed to play, there would be zero affect on LSU's budget.
LSU's budget situation won't be affected by this one way or the other.

I know we have shitty State politicians, but you are really over analyzing this.
Politicians only care about getting reelected. LSU puts out more voters than any University in the State. If politicians wanted to screw with LSU over such an inconsequential issue such as this, they would be taking their lumps at the ballot box.

This, I agree with.

I thought the football program didn't run on state funding

The word is not. (I can be a grammar douche, too)
Fortunately, Jordan Jefferson is not a felon, Judge Dredd.

jj lawyer is (and should) do whats in the best interest of his client. his attitude should be if lsu doesn't care about jj then i don't care about the football team this year.
the thing not mentioned here is what has lm told the team about jj being permanently suspended or reinstated. unglesby may be playing to the team saying hey guys lm told you one thing but his actions say something else. lsu is lying to the team about jj "REAL STATUS". he'll use whatever means he has.
I eventually expent unglesby to say, I tried talking to lsu and they gave me the cold shoulder and then begin to publicly make statement that could prove to be embarrassing to lsu

You're kidding right? Bienville (a real estate lawyer) has postured since Friday to set himself up to sue the players, LSU, Shady's and the building/parking lot owner. Bienville is trying to "take down LSU and miles" and Unglesby is the one trying to prevent it by posturing the face of this entire clusterfrick. In case you didn't pick up on it I was referring to JJ as the face of this.
