Not based on their performance on the football field this season.

No LSU players are expected to declare for the draft from what I have heard from other posters. If any of them leave early, it will be Ricky Jean-Francois or Ciron Black. RJF is believed to have grade problems although nothing has been confirmed. Ciron is a great LT but I do not expect him to leave early. Another year would help both and improve their draft stock immensly. Lafell and Scott are long shots to go pro, as neither seems to dispaly all of the qualities needed in a first or secound round pick. With the rift between the Players' Association and the NFL as far as rookies' salaries, more juniors will declare for the draft this year so anything can happen.

Mike D. said if any leave it's going to be Lafell, Chuck Scott or R J Francios.

Doubt Charles Scott has a picture of a tiger in the middle of a field of pansies as his avatar

Well, what he means is - normally the financial calculus is to come back for your senior year, unless you are projected to go first round or second. It's a cost benefit analysis, as a junior who declares, and is not a high projection has a double hurdle - junior AND not a can't miss, so they risk not getting drafted at all. Then what? You've punted your last year to try to prove yourself.

Now in a case like RJF, where (allegedly) his chances of becoming an academic casualty are high, but he is a tremendous physical specimen AND a workout fiend, he knows that he is going to get drafted based on a NFL combine workout alone, so not coming back to "not play" for LSU in 2009 wouldn't help his draft stock, anyway. In his case, 4th or 5th round money might be better than having to sit out 2009.
