I am a ULL graduate, and I still think it is ULL. It is not Louisiana, nor will it ever be.
I am also a 2 time LSU graduate the way.

Oh boy. You have let them get to you bud. Do you live in Lafayette?
Man I love that town but the ragin Cajun delusional die hards are easily the top thing to dislike about it.

Doesn't matter what you think or post on TD.
We are Louisiana. Every national outlet recognizes the branding. Battles by peons will still be fought, but the war is over.

ULL has the chance to be a serious player in the college baseball scene. They have very good facilities and a strong fan base and lay in fertile recruiting ground.
But what’s sets us apart from them. We focus on the long game. Hoover, regionals, and Omaha.
Their focus is to beat LSU in a mid week game. If they shifted their focus to deep in the season success rather than a random Wednesday in March, they’d have more trips to Omaha.

Any evidence to back-up that claim that we ‘only play to beat lsu’????
I’ll wait.
I’ll wait.

And just an FYI for you….our board has not posted about that game for a few days now. We are focusing now on the current series w/DBU, of which we won G1.
Meanwhile here….the whining and sore butt losers are STILL posting about the loss on Wednesday.
That tells you all you need to know about the difference in the 2 programs.

quote:Yet, somehow you are here on an LSU board, posting back to back in this thread about a game you supposedly have moved on from - curiously strange.

ETA: And a quick post history search reveals in less than the last 24 hours, you’ve posted 25+ times about the win over LSU. Yeah, you’ve definitely moved on and aren’t obsessed with beating LSU. It’s a wonder why people would think the opposite.

UL@LAF biggest accomplishment in college baseball. Winning a midweek game. Time to go back to your UL@LAF website that looks like it was designed by a 12 year old

I’m an LSU fan but this is such a retarded thing to say
How do you want them to do this? Be specific
Bet you don’t answer

Yeah, he won’t, cuz he can’t. Just more tired, butt-sore loser posting, lol.
Just like no one has posted proof that we played and celebrated like this was our CWS game.

Yes, state schools (or lower-ranked, "underdog" programs) typically have higher motivation when playing top-tier "lead" schools in college sports, often fueled by an "us against the world" mentality, the chance to prove themselves, and having nothing to lose. This phenomenon is driven by the desire to "dethrone" a high-profile team and achieve a "Cinderella" story, which acts as a powerful psychological motivator.

Key Factors Driving Higher Motivation
The "Nothing to Lose" Mindset: Underdogs often play more freely because losing is expected, while winning offers immense prestige.
Proof of Competence: Players on lower-tier teams are often motivated to demonstrate they can compete with, or beat, elite athletes.
Increased Team Cohesion: When facing a superior opponent, smaller teams often unify, creating higher motivation and better team chemistry.
Historical Significance: Iconic upsets, such as Appalachian State vs. Michigan (2007), demonstrate the extreme motivation and lasting impact of these matchups.

Nuance: The "Threat" Factor
While it is commonly believed that underdogs are always more motivated, research suggests a more complex picture.
The Superiority Threat: A 2010 study found that teams may actually have more motivation when playing a lower-ranked team because they feel their status is threatened.
High-Stakes Motivation: In competitive situations, teams often put forth 30% more effort when they feel their superiority is challenged, rather than when they are simply trying to "upset" a giant.

Impact of Results
For the Underdog: A win can dramatically increase school spirit, athletic brand recognition, and even student enrollment.
For the Top School: A loss to an underdog can be devastating to a top program's ranking and reputation, whereas a win often merely fulfills expectations.

In summary, while the psychological motivation (adrenaline, excitement, "dream" game) is often higher for the underdog playing a top school, the actual work-harder-to-protect-status motivation may be higher for the ranked team trying to avoid an embarrassing loss.
