Never ever ever did I expect to see LSU fans lining up collectively to declare a moral victory out of two unacceptable losses.

LSU should have won both games ... and I assure you that your two losses adversely affect SCAR and our fans more than it does yours, obviously.

Disappointed. I've always held LSU's fans' standards in high esteem but thread gives me pause.

Really? Look around, full LSU meltdown still ongoing from saturday and people still pissed about losing to Clemson...except for the idiots who say losing the chicken bowl didn't mean anything.

Good for them, they were excited and having fun. Also, good for Richt for showing emotion and passion. He also complimented Mett and said he was proud of him too. Richt is just a good person, yet we have to have some of our idiots ripping him and his team.

Wtf
Yes you are right we need to lose some more big games so we get better after we win.
Makes perfect sense

But to Clemson, it was their coming out party...a huge victory against an SEC team. They wanted/needed it more than we did.

I work in the Greenville, SC area during the week and have met quite a few Clemson fans who feel this way, it was a very big deal for those people.

I really don't think they would have converted a 4th and 16 against any other team. Leave it to LSU's defense to lay a turd on that one!!!

To Georgia, it was like they won the National Championship. They celebrated in Sanford stadium a lot longer than tiger fans do in Death Valley after good wins.

There are several reasons why:
1. LSU is a DAMN good team. Richt knows it, Murray knows it, and Bulldog Nation knows it.
2. The national media still crams the whole "Richt & Murray can't win a big game" down our throats constantly. After knocking off two top 6 teams in September this should close the lid on that crap.
3. LSU is still in the national hunt with 1 loss, had UGA lost it's second game the national hopes are done.

Those are the primary reasons for the extent of the celebration.

Georgia fans were on suicide watch during that game. A loss to LSU would have been devastating. It's why Richt was crying after the game. It meant tons more to their self esteem of how they are perceived on a national level.

You could see and hear it in Mark Richt's big sigh of relief in the post-game. May have shot their wad.

In the Chick-fil-a bowl game, a win by us would have meant, "OK we beat an ACC team...as expected." But to Clemson, it was their coming out party...a huge victory against an SEC team. They wanted/needed it more than we did.

And that's why we lost. Once you play for championships, chic fila bowl is hard to get up for.

I took Richt's emotions after the game to be more related to the embrace and words he and ZM had after the game. He was fine until Tracy started asking him about that and Murray was standing right next to him...

Richt was the only person ZM talked to after the game. He caught Richt before Miles got to midfield and then hightailed to the Locker room. I noticed Murray made no attempt to talk to ZM after the game despite being on the field at the end...

Richt's emotions had more to do with losing a former player last week than beating LSU. He has also known Mett a long time and even UGA fans are proud of that kid. I wanted to get Bama again until we played y'all.

GetmorewithLes - No slam on LSU in my OP. I am just interested in perspectives on how beating LSU is now such a big deal. Guess I am seeing this as positive for the entire school/program. I suspect no difference from UGA or Clemson if they had just beaten Bama. I was almost embarrassed for UGA at the end of the game. Their student fans were running down the stairs and I thought they were going to rush the field for a minute. If they are a true power house they should expect to win. If and when we beat Bama if our people rushed the field I would puke. That is the biggest insult to your own program when you want to play at the top level.
UGA fans didn't storm the field or anything crazy, the reaction was spontaneous to winning a great game when a loss would have knocked them out of a MNC.

I was going to explain the points where your post was wrong, but then I noticed your favorite teams are LSU in football and Kentucky in basketball. Let me guess, you became a Miami Heat fan a couple of years ago.

UGA fans do not need to take lessons on how to be a fan from a front-runner fan.
