You don’t change the whole day because of a forecast 7 hours in advance. There’s also TV deals in place, they aren’t changing the schedule for a chance of rain 2 hours into gametime. The storm was supposed to get there at 8 and got there 40 minutes early. Sucks for LSU but i can’t blame the NCAA here as terrible as they usually are

I am convinced that ESPN had to have programing before the finals and then didn't want the game restarted in the 3rd and 4th quarters. That may just be my tin foil hat.
