This is the very reason why I don’t believe paying players was widespread in the past…because young kids can’t keep quiet about it…
And the transfer rules back then didn't allow the annual feeding frenzy we're seeing now, with no one year sit-out required. So it's just the Wild West, with no regulation or guardrails to protect the game.
So it was nowhere close to the same.
