the scary thing about our D next year is throughout this whole discussion no one mentioned Eric Reid or the incoming freshmen Jenkins who is supposed to be outstanding

I know that. But you said

Rivals rated him as the #1 corner.

Which they didn't.

If that was the case Simon would have started the ULM game.

He didnt get the start on paper, but being from Eunice I had special interest in watching Simon and he played every bit of that game in Claibornes spot.

Jenkins will take a year...i actually saw him play against my old high school..he went to hebron a couple towns over from me...Kid is a stud

As far as rankings goes seeing how that is from 09 means nothing..especially since Craig loston was "projected" to be the best safety in the country...Has he showed that yet..no....will he...probably

So he never went one on one with a receiver. Really? GTHO. Sit Simon for 4 years, Mo has to graduate at some point doesnt he. Let me break it down for u again. In nickel Mathuie will play inside. Simon outside. In base 4-3 Mathuie wil be outside period. For the guy that has a special interest in Simon, I bet Mathuie was playing inside when Simon was on the field.

Yeah in 09? He didnt play true CB this year....

Yes im aware that he made freshmen all american game...did I ever say he sucked? your changing the argument around..you said that He is our best true corner back, you said it will be mo claiborne and ty mat at corner

No one anything about his talent because thats bar none...K rivals had him #1 prospect at 09...scout had him at like 13...he was a 3 star recruit..obviously he plays better than.....projections mean nothing

I think Mo Claiborne and Simon start with Mathieu and Brooks coming in and TM starting at nickle back where he is best. At his size, teams will throw at him regardless. Especially on fade routes near the endzone.

Agree 100%

IMO, your secondary will look like this:

CB - Claiborne
CB - Simon/Brooks
FS - Reid
SS - Taylor
NB - Mathieu
DB - Brooks/Simon/Loston

I think we rotate Loston in heavy at free safety, though.

Unless you are coach Chavis or Cooper, post a link or stop being such a douche about this. Otherwise, your opinion has been noted.

And ur opinion is wrong. A lot of you are basing ur opinions off of Simons height and one great play he made. The crazy part is he might not be at corner past next year. Where is ur link that validates ur opinion.

I told you that my opinion is based on the fact that in the bowl game and final games of the season that Mathieu was at nickle while Simon was playing outside. Obviously Chavis liked Mathieu in a blitzing nickle position. It's my opinion, but it has a factual basis. You linked Rivals ranking of Mathieu as the #1 rated "cover corner". Whoopy-Doo!

I don't care about his height. My opinion is based off of prior play and coaching decisions.

Why? Simon is obviously a corner in Cooper's eyes. And who is he going to replace? Loston, Reid or Taylor? It looks like you are the one basing your opinion on Simon based on height.

It's an opinion. If you can't respect others opinions, then don't expect anyone to respect your opinion. This is a forum for people to discuss and share opinions. Not for you to come in and start saying that you are the all knowing grand puba of all things LSU football. And again, apparently our opinion isn't that bad because a lot of people agree it.

People really need to stop comparing Peterson & Mathieu's after one season. Their two completely different types of corners.

PP7 reminds me of Champ Bailey/Deion Sanders
Mathieu (Mind you one season) Reminds me of troy polamalu

Not to be a negatiger or something like that, but PP was thrown on successfully by Bama, Auburn, and Arkansas.

Exactly, they are two different type of Corners. Also to your opinion you give no credit to Mo claiborne who had the most interceptions on our team.

Simon will be a corner, the only other position he would play is WR and we are good at WR.
Please show me proof that he might not be playing corner next year

We are not going by his height we are going on what makes more sense and why take ty mat out of a roll that he played perfect at.
