Staying in Meridian, so I am looking to park west or south of the stadium. Walking is no issue.

Ideas for all people on places to park would be much appreciated.

we've parked at central HS the last couple of times we've gone. i think it was somewhere between $10-$20. close enough to walk to the stadium/tailgates.

I was there a few weeks ago and parked for free on the street near Government Plaza/23rd Ave & 8th street, only about 3-4 hours before kickoff. I was actually shocked at how open the parking situation is if you're ok walking a bit, and might even say it's the easiest gameday traffic I've ever dealt with. We walked down University Blvd to the stadium, which is the main strip, and it was full of other people even as far west at 8th street. After the game we walked back on Paul W Bryant Drive; TONS of fans walking our direction, tons of cops on traffic control. Never once felt unsafe.

agree completely...I have taken taxis to/from two football games in my life and I will skip the game before I ever attempt that again...

I was wondering myself how the walk is from the parking deck by city hall, if anyone has experience parking there?

that's not a bad walk at all, if you're getting in town saturday though it may be full. That's where I park because the place we stay is right around the corner

Yeah usually park around there or closer to the Queen City Blvd I believe it is then just a few blocks from University and then 1/2 mile or so to stadium and strip area. Recall was not really bad getting out neither!

We were planning on getting to campus around 8 or 8:30.

If you think it will be full by that time, what are some other similar or better options?

I think you will be fine that early.

If it's full there's a place behind the intersection of reed street and riverside dr (look up the intersection on google earth, look up and left)..it's a narrow piece of property that the city owns but you can park back there for free. This is very close to the stadium but tougher to get in and out of. Parking will be available here at 8-8:30, i'd bet money on it. Just don't park like a jackass. There's room for 20-25 cars per side of the "land bridge" unless someone parks like an idiot.

There's enough room for 4-5 cars on the right side too if you get there early enough

Street or yard parking available between 12th-14th Streets & 10th-14th Avenues. I've parked there many times over the years when wanting to exit to I-359 after the game. Never had any issues getting out quickly.

Central High School.

This is where we always park. It's a short straight walk to the stadium and seems to be a safe place to park. Getting out is usually pretty easy and you should be on 359 in a matter of minutes after getting to your vehicle.

You got that right. Very quick and easy to get to the interstate.
Very safe too plus there are some gas stations across from Central where you can buy beer and other things

This is my 5th visit or so but never stayed in Birmingham for game.

Any good spots west of stadium to park if going back to Birmingham or is the high school still a good spot?

Will traffic be gridlock after game to BHam on interstate or are there any backroad routes that are better?

There's heavy traffic, but I haven't seen gridlock on interstate towards B'ham after a game. But I've also exited the stadium the second the game ends. Don't wait around regardless of the outcome.

Another parking suggestion especially for people staying in Tuscaloose or Meridian is to Google "Tuscaloosa Magnet School". This is the school right next to the Hampton Inn and old Bob Baumhower's Wings Sports Grill. Parking is only 10 dollars and it's only about a 250 to 300 yard walk to one of the free shuttle pick up spots. The best part is it's extremely easy to get out of traffic after the game.

For those staying in Meridian and decide to stay here. Take Hwy 82/McFarland Blvd west towards Northport and go about 3 miles until you reach the intersection with Hwy 69 south. This takes you back into downtown Tuscaloosa but you miss most of the gameday traffic while quickly getting to I-359 South.
