Thomas is a possibility but I think Paris is a better athlete and with the benefit of being on campus for spring football he'll move into the mix.
I was impressed with thomas. When it was he, white and rr, we looked liked dbu again. White and rr at cb. Jefferson and Thompson at safety. Mills and thomas come in for nickle and dime. Injuries and the sam Houston's will get the other guys on the field.

Yeah, stop wastin my time. You don't know what the hell Robinson would've done against the run if he were in that situation. I saw White though impressive get beat at other times and that happens I can understand that.

Robinson while not playin all the time showed great man to man skills.
Don't you think there was a reason that White was on the field more than Robinson? That there was a reason that White started 11 games and Robinson only started 2 games? It was because of his tackling ability. I don't doubt that Robinson can become the #1 corner and he may be the better man cover corner right now, but he did not prove that he was the best all around corner last season.
One thing I do know is that White, Robinson, Mills, and Collins will be on the field a lot.

It was already stated back in earlier posts why he wasn't on the field all the time. Light in the arse! And I agreed! The SEC is just to tough a beast for any freshman comin in especially one not suited for the physicalness of it.

physicalness of it.
Exactly. People forget guys like Reid and Landry were physical. They were specimens before LSU. That's why they were capable of starting at safety as freshmen. Adams will have to come in beast mode if he wants a spot at safety this year.

Reid was a bean pole his freshman year

and to beat out a Jefferson

No disrespect to Collins because the kid has the body and abilities to be great, but he just doesn't get the job done. He didn't see the field very much last year and I don't see anything changing next season. He's a great special teams player and hopefully he can take over the James Wright role.

This board is full of posters with "shiny new toy" syndrome. What makes you think a lesser touted recruit in Paris will take the spot of a more highly touted recruit with a year under his belt? White and Robinson will be the starters at CB unless they move mills back down.

LMAO at Tre getting jumped.
It's not about him getting jumped. It's about getting the more physical and talented player on the field (by no means am I saying White is less talented than Paris). Ed Paris and Tre White are both 5 star CB our of HS, yet Ed Paris is taller and much stronger than White. What is so laughable about starting Paris opposed to Robinson by the 6th game of the season when the CB is about to face the big strong SEC receivers? Isn't that what the coaches are expecting out of a 5 star CB? Plus, I don't know why some of you consider moving White to nickle as sort of a demote, cause it's not. Tell me, between White, Mills, and Thomas, who would you rather play at the nickle if other positions are all competently filled? The answer is so obvious. Do I also need to remind you that "the Honey Badger" was mostly playing as the nickle back when he was able to make the biggest impact? It just appears to some of you that the nickle back was a less important position and does not do justice to White's talent, which is really laughable.

Definitely agree. When we get into our nickel package, I think White will slide to NB if the staff has supreme confidence in Paris, if not then id expect White to stay outside, Mills rolls to NB and Adams sub to FS. They could also leave D. Thomas as the Nickel and keep Mills and Corey at safety. I could honestly see Adams take Corey's position if he underperforms. Adams is gonna be a stud, and like miles said in the interview, expect Adams to be a lot similar to Eric Reid his true freshman year with better ball skills!
This is an excellent analysis and really complements what I didn't say in the op. Plus, by the 6th game of the season, if Ed Paris is as good as advertised, there is no reason to not take advantage of his height and physicality to start him at outside with White playing inside and support the run in the nickle package.

In chavis's defense? Thomas. Thomas reminds me a lot of Ron brooks and is really good at coming off the blitz.
You talk about white being small and not strong but you want to move him inside to nickel?

Starting Lineup
PP7
Mo Claiborne
T.Mathieu
E. Reid
B. Taylor
Does anyone realize how ridiculous that secondary was?

Since you brought it up, I'm going to bring it up again to laugh at OP..... The OP took Tre White out of the lineup in SEC play.

unfortunately, this was never a starting lineup. Reid was Taylor's backup and didn't start until he got hurt.
these were your starters
Claiborne
PP7
Taylor (Reid took over after injury)
Hatcher (Loston took over in Cotton after Arky debacle)
Mathieu - nickel
Ron Brooks - dime

Opening day:
CB1: TreDavious White
CB2: Rashard Robinson
NCB: Dwayne Thomas
FS: Rickey Jefferson
SS: Jalen Mills
Midseason/Postseason
CB1: TreDavious White
CB2: Rashard Robinson
NCB: Ed Paris
FS: Rickey Jefferson
SS: Jalen Mills
Adams, Voorhies and Battle are all good, but I'm not sure they're going to beat out Jefferson and Mills by the end of the first year.
That said I expect Adams, Devin Voorhies and John Battle to be in the safety rotation with Jefferson, Mills and Corey Thompson. Thomas will stay in the rotation (probably as the dime back) and Jalen Collins will be in the rotation as well. Paris is eventually going to be a safety for us, but I think the coaches get him on the field at CB first.

I think this is a possibility early in the year.
Cb: rr and tre'
FS: Mills (Adams)
SS: Jefferson (Thompson)
NCB: Thomas (Paris/battle)
Our best lineup should include RR, tre', and mills in some way or another...even with mills at nickel. Paris and Adams will contribute. I actually like Thompson at SS and he could easily get the nod, but I like Jefferson's athleticism. I'd love to see Battle in the mix and I'm hoping to see Voorhies on offense honestly.

He doesn't have to be huge, but you want your nickel back to be physical. White is built to play outside corner and that is where he will play.
