Not sure if he started. Played a lot at nickel. may have started depending on the package they started with.

he was starter in the base package in 2011. he would just "bump down" to one of the inside DB spots when we went to nickel or mustang.

No they could not play in 1971.

The NCAA ban on freshman playing either football or basketball was lifted in the '72-'73 season.
