Troy is a great game for LSU to have at this point in the season. They are as good if not better than App St and much better than North Texas.

The good thing about playing Troy is that is a good tune up for playing Auburn. They run the Tony Franklin spread. He was their OC last year and left a key assisant there who is Troy's new OC. The offense is exactly the same formations and schemes Auburn will run.

Yes, LSU will win. Thinking that LSU will blow them out 50-0 is a little excessive. Granted...it could happen, but history would suggest a little more competitive game.

They scored 26 against Ark. We scored 28 (in 4 quarters). They scored 31 against FL...we scored 28. They scored 34 against UGA. How many other teams scored more than 34 against UGA last year? One. Tennessee scored 35. Yes...I know there were other factors in each of these games...but to think that we're going to blow them away in the setting of a new hurricane hitting the gulf and our lackluster qb play is just silly. We will win, but they could score somewhere between 20-30 points...especially if our qb's underthrow receivers all day and leave it up to the D and Scott to win the game.

Hmm, don't think we can put 30 on you huh?

Let's see in 2004, LSU had the 3rd ranked defense in the country and we scored 20 pts then...with the 113th ranked offense.

Last year we had the 16th ranked offense. Hmmmm.

Lost all our skill players?!? We lost 2 senior WR, a RB and the QB.

We already know our running backs are better than what we had last year.

At WR, 20 different players caught passes last year, 14 for TDs. 3 of those guys were seniors. That leaves 17 others plus a couple new ones that can catch.

Our QB this year played in 8 of the 12 games last year and had a 56 yd run againt Arkansas and one TD pass against UGA.

We'll score 30, and if not, I'll come back here and eat crow, but if we do score 30, I'll still be back here.

Here's my perspective. We won't be as good as we were last year. We have more and better talent, but at this point, we lack experience at skill positions. We have a Top 25 offensive line (phil steele) but could be neutralized by LSU's #1 ranked DL.

We played conservative at MTSU doing mostly screens and letting dujuan harris run because it was our qb, rb, and two wr's first starts. We'll probably open up more of the playbook this weekend and you will probably do the same. Also, we had 4 turnovers in that game, lost the time of possession battle by over 11 minutes and still beat them by 14.

I think the score ends up LSU, 41-17. Somewhere in that area. Troy fans will blast me, I'm just being a realist. LSU DOES have the #1 ranked defense in america, and they certainly looked like it on tv.

Your collegefootballpoll dot com post is duly noted.

Against Middle Tenn, Troy covered the 6 point line and Computer 11 point line with a 31-17 win

LSU didn't cover a 41 point computer line because Les Miles didn't run up the score ... as you know IF you watched LSU play ... It could have been VERY UGLY, easily 50+ to almost zero.

So ... Les will not run up the score on Troy, that much is certain.

Collegefootballpoll has Troy @ # 42, a very respectable ranking with 71 points & LSU 83

That's a 12-point spread without homefield advantage ... likely 17 points computer line by game time, with a Vegas Line near 21 points at the very least, and I would not be surprised to see a 28 point line.

IN FACT ... HERE'S THE OPENING LINE & LINK

It's 24 points

LINK

Do I think LSU will cover the 24?

That depends on what Les Miles does after he's ahead by at least 21 points at halftime.

If he plays the waterboy like he did against APP State, then you have a prayer of covering.

This is the best dee in school history, and could have shut out ASU ... Again, it's a tune up for LSU, no disrespect to your school, but you don't really have a chance, and you won't score much, if at all, as you don't have a great QB like ASU. That's my take on it!

Good Luck ... and don't take this personally. Troy is a good team and better than ASU overall.

I never take any of it personally. I'm not playing the game, so I can't. All the talk is the ususal pre-game chest thumping.

We all think the best of our teams, and that's why we all love college football.

BTW, I'll be at the game (assuming it goes as scheduled, which at this point I think it will).

It will be me and 52 Troy friends on a bus from the FL Emerald Coast (Ft. Walton/Destin). We also have 2 LSU folks coming with us on the bus.

As for the 24 pt opening line....yeah, we'll beat that...easy!

UMMM. Are you as good as last year? Didn't you lose some skill players? That argument is Null and Void. Troy has speed and talent. No need to play the game or even go if you are not into it for a win.

Troy most certainly has the athletes to run the spead.

Troy has the athletes to run the spRead also. Bring it on. Tigers want the best. It is what will best prepare us for the trip 75 miles east of Montgomery in 3 weeks. I love the fact that we are playing a solid Troy team. It is exactly what we need. Our young QB's will have to make quick decisions and this will accelerate their growth curve. Bring on the speed and the spread. We have more speed and strength to match what Troy is bringing to Tiger Stadium. No one sneaks up on Les Miles. No one!
