TRO granted

A Louisiana judge has granted a TRO granting a number of 2022 signees the ability to enter the transfer portal. Affects LSU football and women's basketball for sure. Jack Pyburn is one who had signed with Tampa Bay.

Of all the rulings to complain about, this is the dumbest one.

Not when the players become eligible who signed pro contracts which is what I was referring to but yeah dumb thing to complain about....

Most of these guys are not going to stick on an NFL roster. These are likely moves they would have made if the NCAA made this position clear in March instead of July.
I would have a problem if a guy played 3 years in college, went to the NFL, played in the NFL for a couple years, then got cut, and returned to college for their last (2) year(s).
This is not that.
ETA: My point is there have been many "the sport is dead!" rulings that have been much more influential and consequential than this one. These players did not choose to leave college early - at least that was not what they thought they were doing. They have zero years of NFL service time. I do not have a problem giving the guys that qualify for a 5th year their 5th year - in this specific instance.

Yep, but when an OM graduate gets to give their star QB an extra year for no reason, we should be able to get something too. It is all dumb.

South Carolina’s starting Nickel CB last year DQ Smith is one of the players who got an extra 5th year. I could see that

Okay so there is a construction project going on and the road is 40 MPH and has been 40 MPH for the last 20 years. When that project is done its now a 55 MPH road. All those individuals who got speeding tickets going 50 should now not have to pay their fine because the "rule changed." Its a flawed argument. There is no perfect rule that greatly impacts everyone.
Two things can be true. 1. I think the NCAA is a very flawed organization and should have implemented the 2022 class as eligible. 2. The rule being the rule should be enforced. Instead we are in a situation where all anyone has to do is create a lawsuit to get players eligible or overrule rulings. That is making the sport the wild wild west.
What I don't think you're understanding about my "complaint" is that its via a TRO. No rules are enforceable in this current climate which I actually do think is hurting the sport. Rules even sometimes being stupid should still be able to be enforced so there is some structure instead of just the wild west that we currently have. Its not '22 players being made eligible on this new rule its that the NCAA determined they were not the class to get the 5 for 5 and therefore now a court ruling is saying yes they are. That's my issue.

The NCAA said we are giving everyone 5 years to play 5, but not you!!! Even their legal team said they could not win this. They deserve what they get.
