LSU passing game ahs been inconsistent this year and question marks remain at the QB position.
They've had to rely on the run so much, why can't they run a scheme like Georgia Tech's which averaged about 340 yards per game on the ground. Or does LSU lack the OL and RB's to make it happen?
This is a dumb topic, but I will respond anyway. When is the last time a triple option team has won a National Championship?
It is pretty obvious that teams that don't throw the ball effectively can't win a National Championship. Go try to find a team that won a NC being in the bottom 50 in passing. I know for sure that hasn't happen in at least 10 years (that's just as far back as I looked).

As if we aren't already doing that with overly shitty QB play

It is not the QB. It is the developing of the QB IMO. Mett had a rocket and 2 great receivers who are better now than when they were in college. Cam needs to get his arse in gear too.

You have to have a QB who can recognize more than one option.

1. You need skinny, fast lineman to block linebackers and avoid d-lineman
2. Jennings isn't fast enough
3. Les does not know it

Think you need lean offensive linemen to run this

It works and with the caliber athlete LSU have it would be unstoppable.. It damn sure would've won 01-09-2012 with the right qb.

Beckham and Landry committed here when we had the Jefferson and Lee comedy hour in 2010. Both of those guys are rookie beasts in the NFL now. People think just because we sucked this year passing, we will suck next year passing as well. shite doesn't work like that all the time.
Look from 2010 to 2011 the completion percentage went from 57.5% to 62%. The yards per attempt went from 6.7 to 7.7. The TDs went from 10 to 21, and the ints went from 11 to 5. That's a statistical increase in every category. Same thing with Mett from 2012 to 2013. The completion percentage went from 58.8 to 64.9. The yards per attempt went from 7.4 to 10.4. The TDs went from 12 to 22, but the only regeneration was the higher percentage of ints (compared to amount of pass attempts).
For example, who would have guessed that Prescott or Blake Sims would have thrown for 3400 yards and 26+ apiece this year? Braxton Miller's best year under Meyer and OSU was in his 3rd year starting as a junior. In 12 games he had 2094 yards and 24 TDs. JT Barrett, on two week notice before the season, as a RS freshman, passed for 2834 yards and 34 TDs in 12 games, breaking OSU records left and right.
UCLA had one QB the past 3 years prior to Hundley, pass for at least 2000 yards (2050 at 6.7 ypa in 2009). UCLA had one QB the past 3 years prior to Hundley, pass for more than 8 TDs (12 in 2011). UCLA had no QBs complete at least 57% of their passes. Hundley as a RS freshman, passed for 3740 yards, completed 66.5% of his passes, and passed for 29 TDs.
So in conclusion, next year is a whole new year. 2014 is not 2015, nor does what happen in 2014 mean it's going to happen the same way in 2015. IMO, I think we get A LOT better. All the receivers and TE Smith finally have experience. The QBs have some experience, Fournette and Williams have experience, plus we bring in Guice. I see Harris beating out Jennings in the offseason, and then the LSU offense exploding.

Nebraska in 92 or 3 would have been the last one, right? Probably Colorado in 90 or 91 (co-champs with GA Tech), and ND under Holtz before that. The Oklahoma wishbone teams under Switzer got at least one, going back a little further.
Too lazy to look up on my phone at the moment, but I'm pretty sure all of these are in the ballpark. But college football today is very different. That 90s Nebraska team is the only one I could see having any success today. That team was a machine.

Nebraska was still running triple option back in 97 when they were co-champs with Michigan. they played for the title again and Crouch won the Heisman in 01 (though honestly, they shouldn't have had either). but it was still a fairly successful offense.
note that Nebraska's variant was different than what GT runs, and IF (and I'm really just humoring the thought of this) Les ever tried an offense that was option-based, that'd prob be more what it looked like. some of our speed option stuff from under center already looks like Nebraska's stuff.

It's too complicated for LM. He needs basic offense where he can implement a run-n-gun QB with appropriate RBs.
Posted on 1/4/15 at 3:46 pm to msbargas
Would be great fun to watch. Definitely got the RB's but wouldn't work with Jennings or Harris. Jennings too slow. Harris too lanky and not quick enough.
Posted on 1/4/15 at 3:46 pm to msbargas
The fact that LSU doesn't run the triple option might have something to do with the fact that Les Miles absolutely destroyed that system against GaTech in the Peach Bowl.
Posted on 1/4/15 at 4:34 pm to msbargas
Georgia Tech = higher GPAs = complex offense runs smoother. But, one can only imagine the possibilities with our RBs and Wrs for the pass option.

I'd rather see the wishbone crept put those tigers lined up like a tailbone

Its a hard offense to run and it works best when you have a qb who can actually throw out of it. Jennings can't do that.

Ahem...*cough*bullshite
In 09, bama was 87th. In 2010, auburn was 70th. In 2011, bama was 74th. In 2012, bama was 69th. Now, in 2013, FSU was 10th. Congrats.

GT's offense is way harder to coach than the 1972 Michigan offense that we run.
Holy shite.
A pro style offense is by far the most complex offense in all of football.thats why there aren't many highschools that run i.t
