The play call was excellent. LSU was fooled and left a receiver uncovered.
The pressure on Maze(not too much) made him throw a popup and Reid won the battle.
LSU was fooled. Great call, better defense by one player.

I would think every play would go thru Saban but I dont know if thats true or not

did you notice how our receiver [Brandon Gibson] came from the left side of the field and actually lead Reid into the play

Yes, wondered why two guys were there, but no doubt LSU was fooled, but somehow made a play.
It's the difference in perception of the coaching of the game. While Saban did make more strange decisions than Miles, that one play changed the headlines.
Most here will never acknowledge the obvious.

It was a great play. First and goal for us and we woulda prolly lost 10 yards in 3 plays and then got the field goal blocked

Thank God he missed that last pass though

The Maze play call was a great call, but poor execution
I keep readding this bullshite. The play was poorly designed. In order for the TE to split out he had to allow Mingo (our FASTEST) lineman a rushing lane to the QB. That play should have been set up to where there was help on Mingo or the TE should have not been lined up across from him. Allowing our fastest rusher free run at QB was a recipe for disaster.
The results (a turnover) were predictable.

Nice how you selectively edit my quote(s).
And you selectively leave out how LSU was fooled and left a man uncovered, coach.

What about Mingo, making the throw be a lame duck?
As DC should you not account for the fastest rusher? Sure the call surprised the backfield but the pressure caused a poor throw allowing LSU to react.

Yeah, he got to Maze so fast he had to rush his throw and got too much air under it

quote:nope, frick up by CBS. it was the play after he got to 98 where they put the 104 graphic up, but it was because they gave him 6 yards instead of taking away six
I believe he had 104 at one point and then his next five rushes netted -20 yards or so.

WTF? I only copied the part i disagreed with. You said good call, good play, poor execution.
I disagree. Poor design IMHO. Not accounting for Mingo is a fatal flaw.
JMHO, you are free to disagree.

Pressure for a WR, but not a QB. Kinda lame argument for LSU getting fooled.

Trent Richardson
He accounted for 170 yds and as an LSU fan, I would just as soon not have to face him again...ever.

Whatever. I'll bet if they had it to do over, a RB would stay in to help chip Mingo.
I already agreed LSU got fooled. You suck at this.

You quoted me as if that is all I said. I added to what you quoted..."great defense"
Get it right.
You suck at this.

I think Trent actually played ok. He was not the only "full grown man" on the field Saturday night. He's used to being able to have his way and there were guys on defense just a physical as him

He was probably the best player on the field. There were several other TOP flight players though. He is a hell of a player though, will be a beast at tthe next level too, IMO. Good luck to him.
I actually thought both Bama and LSU were going to run it better than they did.

Both LSU and Alabama's offenses were so effective this year because of the way they wore down opposing defenses late in the game, especially with the running game.
Trent Richardson's physicality and endurance throughout the year has been spectacular, as has LSU's running backs.
However, it seemed like both running games wore themselves down this game against the other defense. The OLs for both teams were just constantly getting abused by the opposing DLs, which is why there were so many tackles for loss late in the game by both teams. I mean those two tackles for loss on Richardson looked too easy, as if Bama's offense had given up almost.

Outside of two big runs of 18 ans 24 yds he was bottle up on the ground. The same goes for the two blown coverages out of the backfield. 100+ of his total yds came of 4 plays. That's what good players do though. When they get bottled up they still find ways to break a few big gains.
That said, I'm glad we most likely won't see him again. Even when he gets stopped for a 1-2 yd gain he makes you earn the tackle.
