re: Trent Johnson is a better coach than Brady!

Sure you do. As I told the NEGATIGERS
the last two years, it was the players who were at fault. They could not hit the broad side of a barn, even though they showed at times that they did have the capablilty. That is on them. So is missing layups, free throws, and throwing the ball away. All of that has continued this year to some extent, but not nearly as before. The big difference is a year of maturity for guys like Spencer, having no injuries so far, and the fact the SEC is HORRIBLE!! If it was all coaching, why have Bass and Warren looked horrible for the most part? They should have been playing like pros all year. Also, when are all the other SEC coaches going to be fired for letting a dunce like Brady put together a team that is surpassing them this year? NEGATIGERS
would be a pretty funny bunch if it were not for the damage they do to LSU!

Blinded? Explain why Martin hits a shot one time down the floor and misses the whole goal the next, on a regular basis? Explain why Temple has only been slightly better shooting this year? Explain why TJ tells our PG to slow it down while dribbling up the court, and he slows it down so much he gets a 10 second call. Explain how, with the game on the line, we get a lane violation that negates a made free throw. Explain how, after a timeout with 27 seconds to go, we get the inbounds pass intercepted? Explain Mitchell missing two free throws in a row down the stretch, and on and on and on. You NEGATIGERS
are so shallow in your analysis that it comes down to this - If we win, no matter the reasons, the coach is a GENIUS! If we lose, no matter the reasons, the coach should be FIRED! BRILLIANT AND BLIND!!

quote:That's clearly not true. Brady's teams won several games under difficult circumstances. What is true, however, is that there is about a 3 in 11 chance that Brady's team would have walked out of The Hump with a 2 game lead in the SEC.
There is no way in hell a Brady coached team walks out of The Hump with a victory last night...........no way in hell.
I could easily, though, see him marching a 2-7 team into there and pulling off some crazy upset, starting a hot streak where they are poised to finish .500 in the conference and be a bubble team going into the tourney, then have some key player retire at halftime of a key game and lose 4 straight to finish the season with a 1-and-done in the NIT.
Or, marching in there with a 2-7 team and marching out with a 2-8 team, on their way to becoming a 2-14 team. That's not too hard to imagine, either.

quote:Because he is an inconsistent shooter with limited skills. A quality coach (who possesses the ability to evaluate talent) would recognize this, and only recruit such a player if someone with better skills was not available. Bottom line, if your players aren't shooting well, then you either recruited poor shooters and failed to improve them with your coaching or you recruited good shooters and screwed them up with your coaching. It's as simple as that when judging a head coach.

quote:That is neither brilliant nor blind. It is simple and obvious. Head coaches are judged over the long haul on one thing: doing their job. Their job is to win games and keep the program out of trouble. When you consistently win games over the long haul and do not get into trouble, you are a genius coach. When you consistently lose games over the long haul, you should be fired. Period.

John Brady had a long haul, and he consistently lost games over the course of it, specifically including his last two seasons with an 11-21 conference record. That should have gotten him fired, and it did. Trent Johnson has not had a long haul, but so far he has been winning games consistently. That creates a legitimate impression (though obviously not proof of any kind) that he is a really good coach. Whether or not he is a genius or should be fired will not be determinable until he has been here long enough for a "long haul." If he has consistently won over that period, then he will be a "genius." If he has consistently lost over that period, he will be fired (or at least should be).

There is something wrong with this picture. Your backdrop is of a metropolitan area. Brady is in Jonesboro, Arkansas where the tallest building in town is the Super WalMart.

Congratulations on your firm grasp of the obvious.

Obviously you don't. John Brady took LSU to its first Final 4 in 20 years.
The height of Trent Johnson's career is going to the sweet 16. Trent Johnson never won the PAC10. Prior to TJ at Stanford was Mike Montgomery who won 4 conference titles all in the 6 years prior to TJ and went to the tourney 10 straight years before TJ. TJ went to 1 sweet sixteen, never won the conference, and even failed to make the NCAA tourney one year. Let's wait until saying he's better than Brady.
THIS IS NOT A POST BASHING TRENT JOHNSON. I LIKE HIM AND WOULD GLADLY TAKE HIM AS BAMA'S NEXT COACH.

Sports tutoring $250/hr, cut rate. Get a second job, then let me know.

quote:It is a simple as that for an example of being simple minded. Brady recruited these players who are now playing well enough to lead the SEC. On that point, you F A I L ! TJ has been coaching these players for six months, so he could have corrected any problems he saw if they were indeed correctable. On that point, you F A I L ! The rest of your post is a classic example of the NEGATIGER
