Is there any way he gets redshirted?
Seems like it would be hard to keep him off the field.
anyone heard any reports about him so far?
eta: haven't heard anything about him since signing day.

The transition from high school to college is particularly hard for a DT, even the elite ones. Rarely do you ever see freshmen step in and REALLY contribute.

hes not getting redshirted according to players, but who knows....supposedly there will be A 4 man rotation mainly at dt with valentine being the 5th. this coming from bain i believe? was in an article....

If coaches think he can get PT i dont see why they would red shirt him. If he's as good as many think he wont be here 4 years anyways.

If his conditioning is there, he will play IMO.

The closer you are to the football at the snap of the ball, the harder it is to contribute as a freshmen. (OL/DL, QB, LB) is much harder to step in from day one and start.
Conversely, (WR, DBs) more commonly can start right away. RB depends and can go either way.
That being said, I don't think Valentine will really contribute with the first defense. I'd like to be wrong and be able to rotate everybody but we'll see
