The offensive player examples should have been a dead giveaway of what we're dealing with here. The one and only goal of anyone playing defense is to dominate the opponent. You want to intimidate them, fluster them, and break their will.
You can't do that with a bouquet of flowers.
This is the best post in this thread.

Loving the people who hate the fact that TM7 folded his arms and stared at the camera.

It's pretty accurate. That said, apart from one's own personal judgment about what is good and bad sportsmanship, there is a point at which it starts to get the referees leaning against the guys behaving like thugs. It's subtle, but it's there, and it shouldn't be ignored.

I watched it on TV, not the interwebs. It was ESPN Gameday Final. I actually caught the replay on Sunday morning, probably on ESPN2. Do a youtube search, idk.

If they start flagging LSU for it, then it becomes a real concern.

How many peoiple here thought it was cool, or swaggerific, or just playing football when Miami took the field vs LSU in the peach bowl couple years ago?
Or when fla gators feel like jumping up and down at midfield in DV?
umm...a little different

As I said yesterday, IF TM was on any team besides LSU, Id bet you every dollar I have 99 percent of you pum-ing this wouldnt be so happy about it.
it wouldn't be an issue. football players, especially defense, have and always will talk shite. deal with it and stop being a pussy

Some of our fans need to realize that these are kids playing lights out.

I truly feel our players and coaches are smart enough to not let it become a "real concern". People need to chill the frick out with this.
Enjoy the fact that LSU is the best team in the country, with confident players who love to play the game and won't take crap from any oppposing team on the road.

defense needs to have a nasty demeanor.

Tyrann Mathieu is a better player than both Flynn and Hester
Les doesnt seem to have a problem with it, so shut your geriatric arse up.
Newsflash: it's not going to stop so either deal with it or don't watch. Let the boys play

I didnt see it that way at all.... and by some of the things said in the press by the WV recievers, I would say that they initiated the whole trash talk scenario.... I personally dont think LSU players are going overboard with the "showboating", I call that swagger!! My paw paw used to tell me, "dont let your mouth overload your arse!", so far.... the tigers are backing up what they say...

See, you would never be drafted into the NFL. You have to be a martini drinking soccer mommy.
I guess you'll get drafted. They can't talk either so you'll fit right in.

Well,, what if the first time they decide to flag LSU over it just happens to be in a game/situation where it costs us?
Say in tuscaloosa? or vs Au or Fla or at Tenn?
I just dont want it to escalate and get out of control and end up costing us.
I played ball, I understand the need for intensity and emotion... I just dont want it to get out of control.
