I found it to be a rough one as well...left the stadium after the game and pulled in to the driveway in ellick at 3AM....saw a good number of folks around me on the interstate keep rolling towards Shreveport too, so they had to be on the road for a couple of more hours....
As enjoyable ad the day and game was, That kind of shite makes me want to quit going to games....

The contraflow on Burbank helped move things
I don't really understand how the Burbank contraflow is supposed to work - it's only contraflow for about a half mile from Nicholson. Then it bottlenecks back into two lanes around Jennifer Jean. It seems like it would work better if it was contraflow at least to Lee, maybe even as far as Staring.

i park near kirby smith. roll up highland to the interstate. i was home before 10:45. one of the best big game traffic flows i can remember. i expected it to take twice as long.
wait, i don't want everyone crowding my route home. scratch that.
i take nicholson south to bluebonnet. yeah, that's better.

I expect common sense to be used by BRPD and not close down the interstate where 50% of fans are routed.

I wish that one of you who know the mayor or a councilman would pass on this note....
Coming into BR from LC, top of the bridge at 11:45 AM, took 20 minutes to get to Nicholson. No cop was operating the light at Nicholson...there needs to be a cop there helping drain the bridge, especially when the LSU game and SU Homecoming dictated "everyone get there early...".
After the game (left at the end from 423), I got out down Nicholson to I-10 quickly, and was in my bed at 12:14 AM in LC. But, when I got on Nicholson, the traffic lights were working as normal (even time for left hand turns), rather than cops operating the lights and moving people out.
Please tell the City of BR to staff these lights on game day, particularly on big game days.

Decided for the first time to use a shuttle to our hotel. Left section 106 after alma mater played. In the shuttle on the other side of the PMAC within 15 minutes. Arrived at our hotel on Bluebonnet @ 12:37. Horrible!

the four lanes going down Burbank was the best move and worked out fine for me

The traffic was close to the worse I have ever seen after a LSU game. I stayed until the end of the game and did not get home until noon on Sunday. Probably my delay getting home had to do with me not starting up the RV until Sunday morning

I just said frick it and chilled on campus until i saw the traffic actually flowing, game ended at 10, didnt get to my ben hur apartment until 1
Almost saw an epic head on collision happen right in front of me by the urec because someone was heading up the wrong way

Something was definitely up. We left a little after midnight and Highland was still bumper to bumper. Once I made it to Lee it was smooth sailing.

Worst I have seen in my 31 years of going to games. How aweful was it for you? What did they screw up to get it so bad?
One of the most electrifying, down to the last minute finishes in recent memory with a record crowd = nobody left until the end.
Which means traffic is much, much worse than normal.
That's for starters.
The second problem is the 13th Gate downtown. People are less apt to leave to go that way because of the shite-show Kip has going on down there where River Road starts with road construction and then the moneygrubbers who can't just close a little early or work something out with local Law Enforcement to ensure better traffic and access to downtown interstate routes.
That's more tertiary, but that's the 2nd problem.
The problem going in the opposite direction is the 3rd problem, and its a bit worse IMO. Which is the ridiculous traffic setup at the Brightside/River Road intersection.
Multiple cop cars with their lights on, traffic barricades up diverting traffic into left turns onto Brightside or directing them to go straight, while traffic headed towards LSU/downtown is about a half dozen deep and stopped right there.
Meanwhile, traffic headed away from campus is backed up for a half a mile or more. Creating gridlock in the Hayfield and levee lots and motivating smart folks-like myself LOL-to just pull our your chairs and icechests and eat cold tailgating food and listen to the postgame show while waiting out the traffic lunacy.
Traffic past this point on River Road headed towards L'Auberge and the Gardere/Nicholson intersection-which is just one right and less than a quarter mile from the Nicholson/Bluebonnet intersection which is how most people escape LSU Traffic to get wherever they're going, whether its home or elsewhere-is ALWAYS FREE FLOWING.
Traffic in front of this barricaded intersection with cops soaking up $25/hour in OT who are doing NOTHING is always backed up all the way to the Hay Lots. Without fail.
I'll repeat again: WITHOUT FAIL.
If this bottleneck was eased-and it doesn't take rocket science to just tell people they can't make a left onto Brightside from River Road after the game (IE-Take Gourier to Nicholson and hit it there or don't hit it at all) would alleviate all traffic concerns headed out of BR from the Hayfield and Levee Lots and a lot of the busses and pay lots near the Vet School and the Practice Fields.
It's one simple change that would eradicate a ton of traffic.
Finally, one thing that never fails is constant tinkering. We open new lots, we take away more lots (in a never ending effort to push people to pay for spots and tailgating and stick it to fans even more) and as a result, we push and pull traffic pregame and postgame all around the campus.
This in turn requires constant tinkering with postgame traffic flow. So people are always wondering which way they should try to leave. This creates confusion and also slows down traffic.
They've spent a ton of money on traffic studies...and they still aren't any further along alleviating the problems.

Parked in Student Union parking garage. Didn't move out of our parking space till 2 hrs after game. Unreal. Then again, it was one hell of a game!

We were on River Road within 2 minutes of getting to the car and was at Lauberge in 21 minutes. No issues at all.

I just don't bring my vehicle off campus always over night and grab it in the morning and scoot on out of there
