After hiring Nick, Michigan State was loaded with players like TJ Duckett and Plaxico Burress, and dominated Florida in the Capital One Bowl. Sabah was no loser, but no universities thought he was remotely interested in leaving MSU, so nobody had him on their radar. Emmert did his homework, and noticed that he was willing to leave.

The Saban hiring has absolutely no correlation with Orgeron's. One was a coach who's program was on the upswing, after beating Ohio State two years in a row, and the other was a coach who flopped mightily at Ole Miss.

Well, at least two colleges since he coached at Tulsa and Michigan State before LSU.

I know that Belichick hired him as his defensive coordinator in Cleveland before his time at Michigan State

Was Saban 3-21 as a head coach?

Well, Saban had his arse handed to him by DiNardo prior to being hired to coach LSU, so there's that. . .

Anyway, here's another.

Maybe he's learned, but let him PROVE it at a lower school for a few years before he takes over an elite program.
But he's got a cool accent.

OP knew Saban coached at MSU.

But he thought it meant McNeese State University.

Upon finding out it meant Michigan State, OP recanted and put his dentures back in.
