2000 Moo State game is an underrated classic
Very close to making my list. Overtime victory. I remember Miss State having a couple of chances to extend the game by scoring right in front of our student section. When they failed to score students stormed the field running over the Miss. State players.

The 1972 Notre Dame game should be on the list. Can definitely understand that viewpoint. Most people would probably have it in the top ten. Everyone hated Notre Dame and they had beat us the year before. It was a surprisingly easy victory. I remember Casanova totally shutting down their great receiver.
The game in TS was 1971 (my first year in Law School). I was at that game and had also at the game in South Bend the year before.
Interesting story at the 1970 game in South Bend. I had on LSU colors and an elderly man came up and started talking with me - he asked if I really thought LSU had a chance against the Irish. (We had only one loss - last second loss to aTm early in the season and had already clinched the SEC championship.)
I told him I thought we had a good chance. He then said, "We've got a great receiver named Gatewood, I bet you've never seen anyone like him."
I replied, "We've got a great defensive back, named Casanova. I bet Gatewood has never seen anyone like him."
I think Gatewood caught only one pass in that game for about 3 yards.

Andy Hamilton also embarrassingly faked ND All-American DB Clarence Ellis out of his jock strap in the SEZ for the final TD - thing of beauty.....

Ole Miss was 4-3 and unranked
Only us old guys recall that actually while the Rebs were indeed unranked they held the longest consectutive bowl streak in the country heading into 1972.They had lost tough home games in Jackson to Auburn and Georgia and one in Oxford to Florida. This game really cemented their tailspin where they didn't go to a bowl again until 1983.

Think all have been covered and agree with but just a few runner-ups come to mind not mentioned:
83 Washington- 41-14; great night in DV vs a highly ranked UW
84 Arizona - 27-26; was Arnspargers first home game I believe, had tied UF 24 all in opener at GV and a pretty good Zona team gave us all could handle until Eric Hill I believe saves the game on last play!
86 N Dame- I think dribblin lou was coach? in a classic with goal line stand at SEZ to preserve the W!
76 Nebraska-6-6; I know a tie but a pretty good Huskers team went toe to toe with until Rusty Dominque block!

It's an oldie but certainly worth a mention
1969 LSU 21 Auburn 20
First matchup of these two teams since 1942.

That was pre-1970, but was a great game. The half-back pass on the first play from scrimmage caught Auburn completely off guard.

'76 Nebraska 6-6 tie
'77 Florida 36-14 Carson 5 straight TD rec.
'82 Tennessee 24-24 and Ole Miss 45-8 -rush yds

'03 Arkansas 55-24 SECW Champs
'05 Florida 21-17, and Auburn 20-17 back-to-back

That 1972 Auburn game is overlooked. Two top ten teams, we scored touchdowns the first four times we had the ball.
83 Washington had the largest crowd before expansion. People were sitting in the aisles. Fire Marshalls never let that happen again.

and they screwed LSU out of a bowl game a few years before... 9-1 team missed out on a bowl game...

Those are all good!
Also, since A&M week, the 88 opener we squashed them 28-0 I believe! Was the lights out game( bank of lights West side went out for a bit)!

That was a game I heard on the radio. Pretty sure Nebraska was No 1. I remember the last second FG try we had to win the game. I can still hear John Ferguson's call " Here's the kick. IT IS LONG ENOUGH!!(The crowd noise rises) IT IS......Noooo Gooood (voice trails off as crowd goes quiet)..."
I wanted to punch him.

1) 1979 vs USC - My first game as an LSU student. Lost to #1 USC in final seconds. We stood and stomped the metal bleachers the entire game.
2) 1972 vs Ole Miss - Bert Jones to Brad Davis for TD to win. Can still see the referee hesitate before raising his arms signaling TD after Davis kicked the pylon.
3) 1970 vs Ole Miss - Dropped Archie Manning for a safety and childhood hero Casanova scored two punt return TD's
4) 1997 vs Florida - Beat #1 Florida and the much hated Darth Visor.
5) 2007 vs Florida - The 4th down game.Incredibly intense game.
6) 1988 vs Auburn - The Earthquake Game - LSU had zero offense the entire game until the final drive to win it.
6) 2003 vs Georgia - Long TD pass to Skyler Green in final minute wins the game.
7) 2007 vs Auburn - TD Pass from Flynn to Byrd with one second left wins the game.
8) 1982 vs Florida St. Needed a win to go to the Orange Bowl. Hilliard and James ran wild. Fans pelted field with oranges as an eerie fog rolled into the stadium at games end.
10) 2000 vs Tennessee - Won in overtime on a gutsy pass call to the endzone on first down from the 25 yardline. Saban's first signature victory.
Was at all of these games and they would also be in my top 10 and probably in the same order. Best games are not always the ones won by the most points. Best games are the ones that are intense, hard hitting down to the wire. Fans don't leave early for these.

I think many people might agree that the top three since 1970 are
USC '79
Georgia '03
Florida '07
But I will tell you what "coulda woulda shoulda" game might have been right up there......
In the '08 Gump game, if Kendall Beckwith runs left instead of right after picking up the blocked Bama FG and is able to run it back for the winning TD, Tiger Stadium would have had to have been rebuilt...
