IMO, you have to judge the players based on what they did during their time period. It's not fair to compare today's athlete to someone from 1970. Wilt Chamberlain was ahead of his time because of his size and athleticism. He would compare very favorably to athletes of this time. Larry Bird would probably have a hard time running with the young guys of these days although he has a better shot then any of them. Bird was a killer during his days but to compare him to Lebron isn't fair. If you made an all-time list, they would both be on it and Bird would be ahead of Lebron due to his body of work but head to head its not fair.

I don't criticize this guy as much for who he left off as for who he put on, and where. I mean, with all the great Tigers, it's easy to forget a few of your old favorites. I don't know how TC and PP7 missed this list, but what gets me is the placement of those on the list. It's true that Trindon was fast, but did you know that Herman Johnson was actually the biggest baby ever born in Louisiana? We need to combat this travesty with the Rant's list of the top 25 Tigers, who's with me?

Yeah, no Mawae, Faneca, or Van Buren really is laughable. Trindon at #3 made me spit my coke out laughing.

I think he must have just been writing down Tigers whose name he remembers, and listing them. When he was finished, he decided to make a top 25 list, forgetting Trindon was in there.

3: Trindon Holliday. Standing at only 5 feet 4 inches, Holliday was also the fastest man to ever play college football.

Trindon Holliday wasn't even the fastest player in the SEC THAT YEAR.

he probably wouldnt even be in the top 100
Hmmm. That might be a close call. 100 is a lot of people, but we've had a lot of great players.

Top 3 is absurd. I don't believe Trindon was ever even among the top 3 on his team at LSU.

Tommy Casanova is the best DB to ever play at LSU.

TC is the most decorated LSU DB but PP and Mo are more athletic and have a far higher ceiling.

this one is pretty hilarious as well...

Tommy was 3 time All-American at LSU. He was named to the college football all-Century Team.

All-Century

He played 6 years in the NFL. Quit to finish his medical training. He was selected to multiple pro bowls.

He could play in this or any era.

In addition to those mentioned in this post and others in the thread, how about AJ Duhe, John Garlington, George Bevan, Mike Anderson, Tommy Davis, John Sage, Mike Hillman, among others?

ETA: If not elsewhere mentioned, Ronnie Estay should be on any list.

Tommy Casanova is the only three time All American in LSU history. There is a reason his name and number is displayed in Tiger Stadium.
The biggest reason is no one left early back then. Cassanova played 3 seasons at LSU, but they were his Sophomore, Junior and Senior seasons (Freshmen couldn't play back then). Peterson's three years were his Freshman, Sophomore and Junior seasons. Had he played a Senior season, there is every indication and reason to believe he would have been a two time national defensive player of the year and defensive back of the year.

Plus, look at the situation of guys like Glenn Dorsey, a two-time All American who spent his first two years behind two other All-Americans. Casanova never had another All-American db on his team, so he was a starter from day 1. We could easily have had two or three more 3 time All-Americans if not for them being buried behind the kind of All-American upperclassmen that Casanova never had to beat out.

The reality is that maybe, just maybe, it's possible that Tommy Casanova might not be the best DB ever at DBU. Of course, some will take this as blasphemy for saying Casanova sucks, but they are idiots who can't grasp that saying he might not be the greatest DB in LSU history is saying he is likely one of the 10-15 greatest DBs in college football history.

Oh, and leaving him off a top 25 list of LSU players of all time is so stupid that I'm assuming it's trolling by some childish, pathetic loser. It's probably not as big a miss as Trindon at #3, but it's close.

Which justifies not giving any weight to the list at all - it is a list of reasonably well-known (and many great) LSU players.
