#6 Will Campbell: The true freshman’s 85.6 pass-blocking grade on true pass sets ranked third in the country and trailed only Peter Skoronski among Power Five tackles. He only gave up pressure on 2.7% of his 515 pass-blocking snaps. He’s the early favorite to be OT1 on this list next season and in the 2025 draft

Really need a running back to break out next year with how elite this Oline will be. Emery Jones and Campbell are studs. Throw in Zalance Heard who very well may be starting at tackle opposite of Campbell

Gonna be fun to watch him and Jones/Heard against Jared Verse. Will Campbell was a true freshman in his 1st college game ever and I believe struggled a bit (understandably so). Seasoned Will is whole different animal!

If a stud emerges, it's going to have to be a freshman we've never seen. The returning backs were good, but they've shown enough to know that none are elite backs.

I know I'll be in a minority on this, but I think Josh Williams could break out next season. He was easily the best and most consistent back last season. Like CEH he also has that burning fire within to prove himself. Also seems like a great kid.

You KNOW he’s going to be preparing all off-season with that matchup in mind. He and Jones will be ready.

Goodwin has shown SEC starter ability when healthy and when he’s gotten decent blocking. Unfortunately, both of those things have been rare in his time here. But if he can stay healthy next season, he should have the blocking behind a talented and now more experienced OL.

I do hope one of the freshmen emerges as a difference maker, though.

Actually LSU had plenty great backs last year, the problem was injury and run blocking.

I wouldn't label any of our 2022 rbs as great. The biggest reason for lack of production was just the amount of carries. Only 1 of our rbs got 80 carries and none got 100 carries.
Jayden almost had double the amount of carries as our most used rb. That's gotta change if we want to take the next step. I don't like my qb leading the team in rushing attempts.

Omg, homer takes never fail to make me laugh. Just no objectivity whatsoever.

behind poor blocking we had 3 RBs average at least 5.4 ypc. We had a 4th average 4.9 ypc.

Compared to 2021 where our lead averaged 4.75, our #2 averaged 4.1 our #3 4.7 and our #4 4.06.

In 2020 the lead averaged 4.3 the #2 averaged 5.04 (only played 2 of the last 3 years), #3 averaged 3.2, #4 averaged 4.0.

In 2019 only 2 averaged more than 4.82 and only 1 averaged more than 5.03.

In 2018 the #1 averaged 4.3, the #2 4.5, and the #3 with 12 carries averaged 8.8.

We have been completely horrible at blocking the past 5 years, and unless we had a gifted RB or system, they weren't even averaging 5 yards a carry.

The thing about LSU this year is that when we dropped a guy do to injury, the next guy up would produce.

I think Emery could be elite with good blocking and better ball carrying. Williams and Goodwin are both 1000 yard backs if they stay healthy. They are truly underrated runners.

Daniels with damn near 45 sacks finished with 4.8 yards per carry. His adjusted rate minus sack yardage put him at 5.8 ypc. He is a massive help in the run game as he allows others to key on him in the run game which opens up the RB in the RPO game. Does anybody think it's a coincidence that all the RBs started averaging over 5 yards per carry this year despite poor blocking?

With that said, Daniels shouldn't lead in rushing attempts, but I still feel like he needs to be top 3 for us to maximize our talent in the run game. For reference Burrow was #3 in rushing for LSU in 2018 in yards and carries and TDs, and was #2 in rushing for LSU in 2019 in yards and carries.

Not to jump the Horse, but Campbell has Future "All Pro" written all over him.
Quite possibly could go down as one of the greatest lineman to lace them up for our Tigers after its all over.

I know LSU didnt have a monster back last year but how can you blame the running backs when you really didnt have a QB to spread it out enough with the pass. The lack of a running game was due to a QB that had a hard time passing the ball downfield. We basically had another running back playing QB. By the end of the season most teams just played the run because the top running back was our QB. If daniels can start to hit some downfield passes and become a consistent passer then the Rb's will start to look a whole lot better.

I'm not denying they can get better. Just saying none of them have shown greatness and if you're going to label a player as "great" at some point production needs to match that label.
