The least important part of a pitching coach's job is to call pitches. Developing guys so that they don't throw pitches two feet off the plate is far more important. He hasn't been very impressive in that aspect so far.

they have far and away the worst pitching/defense in the SEC, but their lineup is not bad. probably in the 10-12 range in the league

I'm interested to hear why you don't think that's concerning. I'm sure they will improve, but so far we don't have a strong Sat/Sun guy, and our pen is struggling to throw strikes for the most part. For us to really have a hope in Omaha, we need one of Shores/Eyanson/Schmidt to step up big time. If not, I think we're looking at a pretty disappointing season compared to expectations.

The goal of all piches is to trick the batter into swinging at something the picher doesnt want them to hit. Throwing a confusing pich away from the plate to trick a batter into swinging is baseball 101. Ask greg madux how many piches he threw over the plate. He wanted to trick everyone into swinging at piches they couldnt hit. If it worked for the best picher ever i dont see why you guys are complaining about our pichers trying to do the same thing!

This is correct in theory but the idea is to work efficiently and not show the opposing team anything you don't have to until you have to. We waste a lot of pitches we shouldn't be wasting this will also lead to starters getting through the lineup less times. Good pitching will beat great hitting but once a guy sees your stuff 2 3 times there ain't much you can do to trick him.

You are correct Eyanson and Shores need to step up and the weekend series now get tougher and tougher. They need to step up for LSU to have a a chance.Throw out Evans and the pen also needs to step up

I just don't think any of them have exhibited that type of wildness all year. The ump was a bit tight yesterday, I thought Evans got squeezed a bit and Schmidt just seemed a little amped up. The wind was blowing out and maybe they were trying to be too perfect.

Everyone had thought Rizy had some control issues then came out today and didn't show any of that.

A lot of it is fixable and isolated.

Feel like it happened against Omaha and in Texas as well when we had walk parties.

I agree though could have been the wind plus ump. Also could have been tight vs a bad team

How many guys got their first SEC experience this weekend and we still got an SEC sweep and outscored our opponent 29-16 with two of the games really not being close. We are averaging less than 4 runs a game given up on the season and really not pitching to our full potential.

The offense is elite and college baseball is in real trouble if this pitching staff peaks when it matters.

Guys are allowed to improve.

And on another note…Tennessee had both of their starters that I saw go over 100 pitches in the first SEC series of the season. That will take a toll when it matters. We are managing guys and getting experience. It will work out in the long run.
