You know nothing about anything. Every draft board has Mingo close to the top 5 right now. Pretty much All of them have him ahead of Montgomery.

And that means nothing if he plays zero snaps the entire rest of this season. You do realize that, right? NFL draft position rankings in September are not how the NFL draft will occur in April.
Sorry, but clearly you have not a clue about things like this if you think a player can sit out almost an entire season and stay at the very top of draft boards come April.

You are just dead wrong here. You dont keep up with many drafts. It would effect him yes, but only a few spots, unless it was injury or getting arrested.
He would still be 15-20 Imo. Could be lower, but no way he would fall out of the first round

You mean you are dead wrong. Very clear you don't have a clue what you're talking about if you say a guy who is a Top 10ish pick in September can simply sit out almost an entire season and still be taken at worst in the Top 15 in April.
Most times in the past if a guy has to miss most of a year (and still go pro) they fall more than "a few spots"

The next years team will always be better.

No matter what Mingo does the rest of this year, he is a first round draft pick.

Yeah you could be right. I hope he stays.

Far too early to predict who will be a first rounder as of now. So many variables to take into consideration.

Yea but op said he was judging based on performances thus far and Simon has been meh.

Metttsiah also, which might turn out to be great. If he can improve through the year, but not really make his case for the NFL, he'll come back.

Why not? You think the NFL scouts don't have access to 2011 tape? You think they just draft based on this season's stats? You realize they will work guys out, interview them etc after the season ends but before the draft in April? Unless the injury is not healed or expected to be an ongoing problem, the fact someone doesn't play most of 1 season is that big of a deal. See Sam Bradford and there was another guy from that OU team that missed all of the 2009 season and still went in the first.

marginal guys for guys with long term injury concerns maybe. The reality is we don't really know where the NFL teams rank these guys yet.

We rule the rest of the BCS era and become the first and only repeat BCS National Champions. Suck it Saban.

Not getting how Monty is perceived to have played well enough to be a 1st rounder while Mingo is perceived to have not. Both have had 1 outstanding game(Auburn for Monty and NT for Mingo) and both have had 1 stinker(NT for Monty. He did absolutely nothing and Idaho for Mingo when he was injured and barely played). The other 2 games for each have been solid to basically nothing. Monty played pretty well against Washington, as did Mingo. Neither was great. Monty was again almost a non factor against Idaho, while Mingo didn't do a whole lot against Auburn. Monty's performance against Auburn is the best by far but neither has looked like consistently good 1st round type players. Both will still be gone after this season and will be drafted 1st round barring injury.
I like the outlook of 2013 as well. This year was supposed to be the year but the losses mounted. I still expect to win it all but it's not as expected as it would've been without all the losses. As for '13 the expectations will still be to win it all and that should be the expectation every year imo. We're too talented to expect anything less. The problem with next year is that Bama is going to be very much like last year except better offensively. We can still beat them bu they will be overwhelming favorites next year. Of course this is dependent on McCarron remaining in school, which I expect.

Just 2 weeks ago people were complaining about Sam not playing great this year and then he blows up and plays great. Mingo's lack of sacks stats are flawed. He was getting pressure early in the first few games, but the qb got rid of the ball quick. I'm sure he has a good many hurries. He'll get his numbers unless teams start game planning around him. He'll be drafted and in the first round barring injury imo. I believe Simon leaves if he's projected in the first 3 rounds unless TM7 convinces him to stay. Reid hasn't played up to his potential this year. He has taken some bad sngles, but I think he'll work on it and come around. He's a smart guy, I'm very curious if he hangs around for his senior year. Keep an eye on Kevin Minter he has played great thus far.
