I think most people have a bigger issue with our lead-footed QB running the option in the first place.
Like several posters have said, I don't mind mixing up short side/far side options, just make sure Mett isn't the one running them...

Curtis, Neville, Franklinton, all run short side option.
It's not the play, it's the QB's that have run it at LSU. Looked pretty good when RP ran it with KW.

Now that being said...no one posed the question of Cam running it in the NFL/Les loves the option/Les still with fingers in offense?

How is Odelle still considered our #1 guy? Landry had a better year last season and had 10 catches for 141 yards and 2 TDs while Beckham had 6 catches for 75 yards today. Last year def seemed that Landry took the top WR role and today confirms that to me. Mett is looking for him. Dural also had 4 catches for 72 yards. Think either he or Leslie becomes our #3 WR. Don't think Avery Peterson gets a lot of PT this year.
How did Eugene look? Sounds like he impressed.

They seem fired up and more about-their-business than last year, where they were seen joking around a lot.
That sounds like assistants setting the tone and not the head coach. Hmmmmmmm.

-On PR and KR, we had Beckham and Eugene. Both of them looked great running back the football. They were cutting through defenders and looked very athletic. Eugene had a return for about 40 yards.
Could have sworn Dural was returning some kicks. If so, how did he look? This guy could really be what we were missing last season.

Eugene was great. Solid coverage on defense and great job on ST.
I forgot about travin. Also a guy to watch.

The option is about angel and speed. If the QB does not attack the end from the proper angel and with the appropriate speed, the play is a waste. When executed in the manner designed by players who possess significant speed , it is a very difficult play defend.

No sacks that I can recall, but like I said, the DL worked great as a unit to stop the run.
Had 2 sacks. Did you watch practice or is this just a bunch if stuff you picked up from site to site?

or the head coach realized his approach last year wasn't as effective as he thought it would be...

Great to hear. I'm a huge Eugene fan. Under rated out of high school with not that many offers. Dominated in the playoffs and got an offer from LSU and immediately committed. Willing to do whatever the coaches want him to do. In the Tiger Attack drill anytime they need a guy to fill in its always Eugene. And you can line him up at CB, S, OLB, return man, gunner, and coverage on special teams, use him as a spy against the Manziels of the world, blitz him off the edge, or cover somebody. Definition if a utility player and thats very important to have for our scheme. Chief loves him and sounds like every coach does too.
Very excited about Dural.
Who seemed to be the most improved? And who looks like they have gotten bigger and stronger? I saw Kwon on 1 of the practice videos and he looked like he gained 20 lbs. What about Debo?

You STFU. That's a drill that he leads, like he did last year.
If what the OP said is true about spring scrimmages, then the assistants are setting the tone there.
See the difference?
