This would make a ton of sense given the context of Kelly’s reaction in the press conference. If Nussmeier has an undisclosed chronic injury, then they know going in that the offense is going to be limited, which could be why the 3rd down play calling is so lackluster and predictable, and they are purposefully leaning into field position battle and setting the defense up for success.

Kelly’s comes across as a smarmy a-hole to begin with, and I would expect him to show frustration if he can’t address the #1 reason why the offense is as bad as it is. Otherwise, then something else is just fundamentally wrong with the offense.
