I know there's another thread on this matter, but I wanted to stop by and say THANK YOU. We laid a great coach, mentor, and man to rest yesterday; and the well wishes from people and fan bases from around the country (including LSU; even Coach Manieri and Skip showed up to the funeral) are a testament to what Tony Robichaux was and stood for. He always said that he wanted to turn boys into men the right way, and he was never ashamed in living out his faith. If anything, the man could've been a preacher if he didn't coach baseball. And he would have been a great one at that. I'm proud to say that I knew him and learned something new about life every time I had the chance to speak with him. He was a man full of selflessness and wisdom.

Now, I know our fan bases love to bicker at each other at times, and I know that we have our differences. But in times like these, I see the true colors of the compassion that we have down here in South Louisiana whether we bleed red and white or purple and gold. And for that, I am grateful.

Again, Thank You!

Regardless of affiliation, he was a great man and I had a lot of respect for him.

He will be missed.

He was taken far too soon.
From the past week, to see all the comments from former players painted a picture of not only a great coach but a great mentor for all those players that came through his program.

I know one thing, when you got between the white lines on that baseball field you knew you were in for some outstanding baseball when LSU and ULL matched up and the intensity for some of the midweek games were just as much as any regionals they played in.

The one thing about Skip is he was always willing to share his baseball knowledge with anyone, anytime, anywhere and I know he respected Tony more than anyone despite any competition. Skip knew the better high school and college baseball within Louisiana the better off everyone would be.

Aren't you cute? Butthole

If this was directed at me this is a perfect example of why Coaches need to mentor young men and teach them positive traits otherwise they will turn out like you. If not aimed at me...nevermind.

He was a great human being and an example for all no matter affiliation to learn from and live by.

His teachings reached all. What a great man and coach. Not only was he a successful coach but he did it in a way which few still do and that’s through his belief in GOD first and foremost. Everything else was secondary to him and he was doing it in a time where it isn’t accepted near as much as it should be. He didn’t care nor change. He stood up when others sat down. You just have to respect a man like that.

He will be greatly missed by all. A giant in the sport of NCAA baseball and the community of Lafayette and Acadiana as a whole. RIP Coach Robichaux.

And kick rocks 1994. I hope the admins kick you from this site for sending such a foul statement and just being such a classless human being. Joke or not. This is completely unacceptable.

From a Cajuns graduate (and Tigers fan) to a Cajuns fan, this was an awesome post. Coach Robichaux was a great coach, but mostly he was a great man. Sorry for all the douchebag responses you might have gotten on here. They don't represent all Tiger fans.

Keep raging on!

Appreciate the kind responses. Now, it’s all about moving forward but living on the legacy that Coach Robe left us with. Whoever the next coach may be.....they definitely have some big shoes to fill.

Although I appreciate the thought and sentiment , the ULL colors are vermillion and white. not red and white!! I would think that any true Ull fan would know that,,

Yes, I’m well aware. I just thought “red” was easier to type.

Well said. You guys lost a good one. Despite the smack talk during the season, we know a good guy when we see him. And sorry for the asshat downvotes. We apparently have a few children hiding behind their keyboards.
