I can't explain that. I don't know wtf. I'm on the "Crowton sucks" bandwagon.
i mean, i dont know the parameters regarding his contract, etc...but crowton pulls that shite anywhere else, and he's fired.

i don't know how he was kept on staff. I would love to place the blame squarely on miles, but even he isn't ignorant enough to know that keeping things the same would be detrimental to his future.

Just reading the Belowpar thread, it was more along the lines of the Admins not wanting to buy him out. More along the lines of LSU being cheap.

I don't see how you can say that when the only way to go on offense is up. They say the biggest jump in production and success is between the Soph and Jr years for QB's.

I hear ya

My concern is however that it's just not as simple as saying if player A, B, and C grow, mature, and develop we'll be A OK(like UF's defense in 2007). I believe there may be fundamental problems with philosophy and player usage...blame that on who you want, that's for another thread

In short, I'm not so sure that jefferson developing will suddenly make everything right...we have a LONG way to go both player and coaching wise to have a respectable offense, Imo

This is true.

That sort of fits in with my point with the fact that LSU had 9 wins with how terrible they played at times last year. 9 How many times has this ever happened? ESPECIALLY in the SEC. Improvement on offense and stability on defense and you're looking at a 10-11 wins.

That's not attrition, that's just bad luck. Right?

Why didn't Meyer have those guys prepared and ready?? No excuse for that!

It was only his third year as coach. Still, even with that, he had a 9-4 season and finished in the top 25. For LSU, that's the "good" year we bounce back with after a bad year. At Florida, it's the bad year they bounce back from with a national championship.

This year, they again are supposed to be young on defense, plus they lost their great QB and will have a young, first-year starter taking his place. Let's see if they go 7-5 in the regular season, give up 50+ twice, get blown out at home twice and lose to a 4-7 team. If so, then you might have a case for comparing Meyer's 2010 season to Miles' 2008 season. So far, there's nothing on Meyer's resume` that compares to Miles' 2008 season.

, pal.

You know why? Because Saban coaches there. Saban doesn't go 8-4. Florida doesn't go 8-4. USC doesn't go 8-4. Oklahoma doesn't go 8-4. Ohio St. doesn't go 8-4.

You just love mediocrity if "attrition" is your excuse, pal.

All you have to do is point out the past national champions who followed up their titles with 5 losses and an unranked finish the next year. Go ahead, I'm waiting to be enlightened.

You ruin threads. You really do.

...and no, it's not the "truth," like I'm sure you're going to claim all this preaching to be.

All you have to do is point out the past national champions that had to kick off their 5* #1 recruit QB...have the backup get hurt...and was forced to start the 3rd and 4th string QBs.....aaannd have their NC winning DC leave. Go ahead, Im waiting to be enlightened.

"They" who say that are usually apologists trying to justify their sophomore QB's bad season and build false hope for his junior season.

My big issue is that people just KNOW what's going to happen, when in reality, they don't know what's going to happen. Their constant bickering and preaching (Nuts, Foosball, PeeJ....although PeeJ just jumps into threads like Kige and agrees with whoever is saying something negative about Miles) without letting anything play out.

Nobody knows for 100% certain, and I never claimed to. I certainly have my opinion and will make predictions, but I realize they have the potential to be wrong. And what's with the "not letting anything play out" bit? Who has advocated cancelling the season? If you need more time to evaluate Les Miles, fine, take as long as you want. I've seen what I need to see to figure out what I think of him as a coach. Obviously, that opinion can change when the facts (i.e. performance of the team) change, but until and unless they do, it won't. I won't presume that they will in the meantime, so I will stick with the opinion that is based on the most current information I have.

What you're allowed to think and what you state as fact are two completely different things.

I hope you didn't think Hatch would be starting the whole season in 2008.

He was the starting QB going going into the '08 season...he would've normally been the backup. That is fact...everything else is speculative.

It depends on what you want from a thread. If you just want a cheerleading thread, then by all means get your pom poms, put on your skirt and start one. State the purpose clearly in the thread title and chances are, I won't even open it.

I see. So the worst season for a defending national champion in over half a century wasn't due to bad coaching, but just bad luck. Les Miles is just the unluckiest coach in the last 50 years. Well, I'm normally not superstitious, but if he's that damned unlucky, we better fire him before it rubs off on the school as a whole.
