I went to UGA/USC game. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Airport. Very good Holiday Inn. Clean, well lit, good breakfast buffet. Nice pool area too. It is only a few miles and a straight shot to/from downtown and the bar areas. Good brewery, a Mellow Mushrom pizza place etc.
Parking around the stadium is weird. The area around the stadium is mostly industrial in nature. Not very "campus-like".
I came in from the south side of the stadium per locals recomendation and it was much easier ingress/egress. I would just drive as close as you can until you see the stadium and park. I paid $30 for nice spot and porta-john equipped lot.
See ya guys in two weeks.
GEAUX DAWGS!!

Here's a map I've created (and posted on my home site, CockyTalk) that should help you guys get through the city to Williams Brice, find parking AND something to do. Hope this helps!
We look forward to having you all as our guests at Williams Brice this Saturday, and here's to an injury-free game for BOTH teams! Good luck (but not TOO much)!!!

Try Liberty Tap Room in the Vista... they've got a great atmosphere and about 50 different kinds of martinis... have fun!

Don't listen to Ertman420. He's trying to lead you to a seedy motel where you will wake up in a bath tub full of ice with your man-hood taken along with your kidneys.
J/K he was the Best Man in my wedding so you can trust him!

I'm just day tripping it - we'll drive back to Asheville after the game.

LSUhumbleFAN, you might check in with the Country Inn and Suites. It's right off of I77 at Sumter Highway/Garners Ferry Road. There are actually a couple of hotels there that are perfectly safe (I've stayed in both for weddings and other various events). Plus, Rush's is a block or down the road (Good Chilly-Cheeseburgers).
Also, if you have to get a little further out of town there's a decent hotel up at the Blythewood exit a little further north up I77. That'll get you heading in the right direction back to the Triad area. (I'm not sure what exit number, but it's Blythewood Road.)
Amongst other places, both of those spots are safe and will give you a relatively easy path to the stadium from I77.
Best case scenario, get a place at the Whitney Hotel. Right near Five Points and in the nicer part of Columbia.

Thanks for the help. The Whitney is actually booked.
What do you think about the location of this hotel?
Marriott at 320 Columbiana Drive Columbia, South Carolina 29212 USA. I actual reserved a room there but I am continuing to look for something closer but safe and clean.

^^The area is fine. However, from where you're coming from it's kind of out of the way.
My biggest problem with Columbiana Mall is traffic. However, there's some good places to eat and the mall is pretty good.
It'll be about a 15-20 minute drive to the stadium from there which also mean 15 or 20 minutes into the Vista or Five Points. If nightlife and getting out into town is part of your plan you might see about some of those hotels on Garners Ferry.

Looks like most Hotels are booked in that area. I waited to late. However, something may become available if there are some cancellations. I was not expecting the fair...

The Inn at Claussen's is in 5 points and its a pretty cozy place if you ask me. They have a couple of rooms available for the weekend. You should check it out!
