Time to give Raymond a little more say in this defense.

I'd like to see Raymond be more heavily involved in gameplan on defense. We've spoiled by his recruiting and the ability to have the best DBs in the country every year. Not saying he needs to be a DC yet but he needs to be strong in the defensive gameplans to see what he's capable of doing. He has been loyal so time to show a little love back to the man? Someone is going to poach this guy from our staff and it's going to hurt so we need to do everything we can to keep what we have.

Agree or disagree?

Does he want it ? Are you fixing a problem that doesn’t exist?

Stop.
He’s a position coach.
He’s paid well.
We will get a new DC.
It will be ok.

I would love to know what Aranda thinks of him as far as DC.

DA knows defense and they spent a lot of time together talking defense I'd assume. If anyone would know, it'd be Dave.

I don't but I've never heard his name associated heavily with gameplans. Usually stuff comes out often especially in interviews. Maybe he doesn't want it, I don't know, but I really don't want to see him going to a rival. Regardless of him being just a position coach, his evaluations have been elite on top of his recruiting and development of the DBs at LSU. Not sure any other program not even OSU/Texas can claim what LSU has done with DBs the past 15 years or so. Maybe it's the system because Cooper was elite too...but something tells me Raymond is a huge contributing factor to our success here. You see it in recruiting interviews he made the evaluations on guys like Flott that the 2 Bama schools didn't seem to be high on for some odd reason.

I can tell you this much, Aranda and Raymond clashed a bit and Coach O sided with Raymond.

It simply was because Aranda wanted a zone blitzing scheme but LSU traditionally is press man coverage with an Elite D Line.

That’s the direction O wants to go. There was no beef or hate and Aranda was loved but philosophy wise they were on different pages. This is why you saw less breakdowns towards the end of the season. Aranda simplified the defense. Stingley, Fulton and Vincent played man with one safety over top and it allowed Delpit to play in the box.

Look at the passing stats of the last 4 QBs we played. None of them could make the tough tight window throws and it led to sacks.

With that being said Aranda simply left for a head coaching job. He was not pushed out in any way.

It's time to let national championship head coach Ed-O call the shots. I trust him far more than I trust you.

That mindset is how you get Malveto. Not saying Raymond can’t or wouldn’t be a good defensive coordinator, but promoting someone just bc they’ve been there a long time and not bc you think they’d actually handle the promotion well is not a good mindset

Or you just let him do what he’s best at and give him a raise.

Brady and E worked very well but too many hands in the cookie jar can be a problem

I highly doubt he just wants to be a position coach in CFB.
