I wouldn't even move Jones up at top. If you want to play the OPB game you need to go with NOLA. Jones has more middle of the lineup potential to drive in runs behind Mahtook.

Maybe so but I see the 9 hole in his future. He not getting better than that .411 but I'd give him a couple more series to see what he does in SEC play.

I dont care if that is 7th out of 9 of the regulars that are all really good hitters.

Well then...if you don't care that his OBP is 7th out of 9 starters, then you have some form of hidden knowledge about baseball that I'll never understand.
That officially kicks me out of this discussion.

Jacoby Jones was a .470 or whatever hitter going into CSF series.

he has hit .250 (4 for 16..zero walks) against 3 games vs CSF and 1 game vs FLorida.

You're right he's a junior, but he missed almost all of last season with an injury, I'm not so sure that the injury hasn't affected him a bit mentally at the plate

So you're arguing he isn't middle of the lineup potential because that's my argument he is not the top and not the 9 hole.

.411 is a very good OBP.

job of a leadoff guy:

have speed: check
work count: check
get on base: check
be able to steal a base/score runs: check

he does all of that.

again, being 7th out of 9 starters in OBP is nothing. There are 3 guys way ahead, and 3 guys that he could pass up by getting on base 2 times tomorrow night. Its that close.

who do you put at leadoff then?

jacby jones is the only guy that should even get consideration at this point.

Im not sure he is ready to assume that responsibility

I think Nola would be decent. Kid doesn't hit for power, has some speed and gets on base. If you want to argue it doesn't work with our lineup, fine. I just think he would be an option.

They don't have a good answer for you. The next best option is probably Hanover, and he is a run producer. They only wanna take Watkins out of the lineup when we lose. They should be mad at jacoby.

because he's scared to swing the fricking bat! (see 9th inning of the Florida game tonight)

He's not defendable Lester...let it go.

If he's our BEST option for a leadoff, then this year is gonna get long, because he wasn't excelling against shite competition. What's gonna happen for the rest of the conference season. You saw it tonight...time to cut your losses!
