Per Wikipedia:
From 1983-86, Brando served as a sports reporter at WAFB-TV Baton Rouge and was the voice of LSU basketball telecasts on Tigervision
for those who were around then. I remember watching a few games with Tim announcing.Always liked the guy.

Brando was saying that he did not have LSU in his top 10 because their schedule is too tough.

Just rank the teams based on who is better.
Not being able to read his mind, maybe he is ranking according to who he thinks is better. Maybe he was being nice to the father of an LSU player. Just sayin'.

My guess is that ya'll would prefer the gubberment to lay down rules on how to vote in a fricking pre-season poll
all sarcasm aside, I would prefer no poll until after week number 5. That way every team should be in conference play and pollsters would have had a better look at the actual products they were voting on
Posted on 8/2/08 at 1:38 pm to natcheztiger
He doesn't have LSU in his top 10 because he's a sorry arse who pulls against the Tigers every chance he gets.
What an idiot.
What an idiot.

Brando does not hate LSU...You folks are paranoid..
His daughter went to LSU and he is a Louisiana man...

Well, if we don't beat Florida, Georgia, Auburn and either BAMA or S. Caroling, he could very well be right!
Posted on 8/2/08 at 3:32 pm to natcheztiger
I agree with this. That's why you need accurate rankings so when or if a top team loses a tough game they still have a chance to be near the top and have a chance to compete for the NC.Brando is a douche.

...Brando BLEAUXS ! ...He's got a "chip" for LSU - always has, always will...don't know why exactly, but he friggin' BLEAUXS!...and he's a Louisiana boy - so I dont know what his problem is...he always say" "Hey - I'm jus bein' objective" blah blah blah...but he AIN't! ...He BLEAUXS!

threads like these always fascinate me.
It is interesting how different people can see the same thing and get a completely different perception of reality.
Tim Brando is an LSU homer, pure and simple.

I like Brando OK. He loves LSU and offered his opinion. Without a proven quarterback and without the senior leadership on defense and with question marks at cornerback in an SEC with plenty of good qb's and wr's I can see where he'd be concerned about our schedule. Plus, if I understand the polling, it's a PRESEASON poll. LSU will get the chance to prove their worth on the field.
Now if you'd hammered Musburger or Danielson I'd be in complete agreement!

Its called sarcasm, look it up
IMHO, it was very poorly employed, you might want to look at the definition again.
quote:
There are no "rules" on how they should view things on how to vote.
And there is no rule against commenting on the logic a voter describes for his votes.
quote:
My guess is that ya'll would prefer the gubberment to lay down rules on how to vote in a fricking pre-season poll
Since nothing suggested such a desire by anyone I think this is an other example of poorly used sarcasm.

Please tell me Bobby punked him with this puke came out of his mouth ?

What do you guys and gals think about the polls coming out at or after week 4, and the bcs in week 8 like it always does?
Posted on 8/2/08 at 4:59 pm to natcheztiger
I agree with this. It absolutely baffles me why pollsters would take a team schedule into account. The pre-season rankings should be based on perceived talent -- pure and simple. Then the schedules they play and how the team performs during the season will effectively impact those rankings, thus creating a final poll.
Punishing a team in a pre-season ranking because they have a tough road ahead makes absolutely zero sense. And of course it doesn't encourage scheduling tough games.
I really cannot believe that the entire world doesn't share this view.

that is completely true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Brando likes LSU, to not have them in the top 10 is stupid though
Posted on 8/2/08 at 6:52 pm to cheapseat
LSU fans can be so damn paranoid! It's just one man giving his opinion. So what!

Posted on 8/2/08 at 11:16 pm to thebigmac
No. You totally missed the point. If Brando held the opinion that we were not one of the best ten teams in the nation (because of the QB situation or because of two years of losing first rounders to the NFL, etc.), then I would disagree, but I wouldn't call him an idiot. My problem is that he said he did not have LSU in his top ten because of the strength of our schedule. By that logic, you are ranking teams based on a mix of talent + weakness of schedule and that is bullshite.
It wouldn't matter that much except for the fact that you have an equal number of pollster idiots (probably including Brando) who rationalize that you can't jump a team that won their games ("did everything they were asked to do" they like to say), even if that menas you can't jump, let's say, a West Virginia if they beat Pitt and Rutgers just because you beat Florida and Georgia (never mind that you were only ranked behind West Virginia in the first place because you had Florida and Georgia on your schedule).
