re: Tim Brando and Miles' Buyout

No, because his current contract, plus amendments, only authorizes the Chancellor to extend Miles' contract through December 31, 2014. There would have to be another contract amendment, approved by the Board, to extend it beyond December 31, 2014 and I am not aware of any vote on that particular issue.

I haven't read through the thread yet. Every time I post this some moron comes along to explain that the TAF and LSU are seperate. They are seperate but there is no way they are gonna deal with the HORRIBLE PR that goes with buying out Miles at this time.
I love posts where people call other people morons while misspelling words.

So the contract is up after the 2012 season. Mafia comes through in the clutch.
Not sure since he didn't mention it directly in his response. Could just be the reporter going off what he thought he heard.
My belief is its at most through 2013 because there were several reports following the 2008 season that he was upset it wasn't rolled over. Last season we were 9-3 and 5-3 in the SEC so it would be hard to justify not rolling it over.
So its either 2 or 3 years and now I am leaning to 3 based on Belowpar.

This is what I thought was the case.
His current contract only goes through 2012, but the chancellor has the ability to unilaterally extend it through 2014.

It might be 15...You guys have me confused now and I thought I knew it, haha.
He has until 14, know that.

Sorry Mafia, I trust lawyers reading and drafting the contract, not reporters asking questions. Miles didn't say, admit or prove anything in that no comment.
In any event, I still believe the contract, as written, lasts until December 31, 2014. belowpar has always been right in his posts in the past and if he has specific knowledge that one of the years was specifically not renewed and it was approved by the President of the Board (per the contract - which would make it public record), I would have no reason to question belowpar.

Does anyone know where there is a copy of the contract?

Give it up, the contract has four years left, $15M - thanks for playing!

Go to College Football Coaches Contract and select Miles

If he has until 14, it will be $15 Million. Still odd that he is being asked about it at SEC media days in stating it hasn't been rolled over twice.

Look jackass, I said based on BelowPar's comment that it was $11.3M. If it's through 2014, which he LATER came out and stated, its $15 M. If LSU was stupid enough to not deny it to him in 2008 where he had a losing SEC record AND only 7 wins against FBS competition, then these men need to be fired now.
Seems kind of random to come off the top of his head with $11.3M though.
In any case, LSU will not pay the full amount of the buyout. If Les doesn't make a true effort to find another job after he would be fired, LSU could recoup a significant amount.
If he finds another job, LSU would only have to pay the difference and in both cases spread it out across double his years.
In the end, we have a dumbass AD and chancellor to thank for even allowing such a stupid contract to be drafted, signed, and approved for a man that was never even offered another job.
Bertman and O'Keefe panicked like the morons they are and basically screwed over LSU in the process.

That has to be an old contract because it says its only valid through 2011 and his buyout us prorated 1.25 million per year for each year on the contract, which would make his buyout 2.5 million.

Why must everyone revert to silly name calling when they are wrong.
Which Waco had already debunked with the public record.
Which I said in about the third post on this thread and was backed up repeatedly but you all didn't want to accept it because it makes your STUPID 'crusade' to oust the winningest coach in our history that much more futile.
The year AFTER a National Title and he met the contractual requirement, so yea, they let it roll automatically as per the AGREEMENT!
Welcome to the Rant
Good luck with that, oh and when he does take another job - say he can't find another Major College job so he decides to coach HS for a couple of years then LSU will be paying the difference. Wouldn't that be swell BRHS Coach makes $3.75M and it only cost the EBRPSS $70k, brilliant!
Don't kid yourself, Michigan offered.
And the contract is pretty standard for his level.
Everybody’s a moron, except you of course the guy how couldn't read $15M for five thread pages!!!!

The contract posted doesn't include the amendments or memorandums. I think an earlier posted included those amendments, but, in any event, I have a copy updated through the 2008 season and approved by the Board, which is the last time this was discussed by the Board in a public meeting, that I am aware of.
Regardless, I think belowpar has now stated that the contract extends until 12/31/2014, which agrees with my understanding. I am done.

On the Timmy B Show today, there was a good bit of talk about Les Miles of course. Brando, in response to a pro-LSU caller, said that Miles' buyout is over $13 million.
Does anyone really know the real amount of the buyout should things really turn south in the remainder of the season?
The buyout is 11 million. That's also not including the cost of trying to attract a top flight coach to replace him.
