First of all I agree with those who hope we stay in the three slot, I don't believe FSU will defeat the Sooners. But when you read the Friday morning clippings already referenced on this board, you will discern the bandwagon has begun to roll, slowly perhaps, but inexorably. Those who write those comments vote in the polls, and they have recognized the extremely special quality of the Tiger defense.

What did Lee do last night to warrant "not taking chances?"
Nothing, but I think the coaches know who he is, and they know what they need from him to win.
You make it sound like the coaches have no faith in taking chances with Lee going down field. The only thing yo could base that on is 2008, because Lee is looking poised in 2011.

Not that I want to be #1 now, but if (or when) we beat West Virginia next week, we deserve the number 1 spot. What other team will have beaten three ranked teams in the same month?

No, I don't mean that. Lee is a good QB, but it's not like he's Andrew Luck or anything. They aren't going to go out and throw it all over the field this year. He's easily good enough to go out there and win every game if put in the right situations, and I think that's what they are doing. Running on first down, and setting up short third downs is what has always worked for LSU, and that's the game Miles likes.
I didn't mean for anything to be a knock on Lee. I thought he proved himself last year, and should have been the starter regardless of JJ's legal situation.

What happened to OU's offense in 2003 and OSU's offense in 2007? Our offense is doing just fine to win a championship.
Our offense is doing just fine to win a championship as long as there are no killer turnovers, special teams screw-ups, key injuries on defense, etc etc etc
I know we can win any one game. I don't think we can go a whole season without losing by playing the way we did last night. There wasn't any margin for error until the very end.

It really doesn't matter at this point of the season. Just keep winning.

I disagree with this. I think if the D plays like they did last night and against Oregon, LSU will have a shot to win every game.

If Florida State wins and jumps us, I'm going to flip my shite.
I'll be happy. If we keep winning out we're inevitably going to arrive at #1 and I don't want to be #1 yet. I want everyone to continue to underestimate us until the poll that actually counts, i.e. the last of the season.

as opposed to all those other teams who can win a championship with those same circumstances

Agree. And way too early to care about.
